THE FREE PRESS JOURNAL 17 MUMBAI | THURSDAY | AUGUST 06, 2020 FPJ MONEY SAIL's July sales up 50% to 15.83L tonnes State-owned SAIL said its total sales grew by about 50% on year to 15.83 lakh tonnes (LT) during July 2020. The company had registered sale of 10.59 LT steel during the same month last year, Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) said in a statement. "SAIL attained a sales volume of 15.83 LT in July 2020 which is its best ever performance in the month of July and an impressive growth of about 50% over July 2019 sales which was 10.59 LT," it said. The company sold 12.73 LT steel in domestic market and exported 3.10 LT steel in July, a growth of 29% and 349%, respectively, over the year-ago month. "SAIL is working hard to improve the overall performance. The efforts being put in have started showing in these record sales numbers, reduced inventory, improved collections and reduced borrowings," the company's chairman Anil Kumar Chaudhary said. "SAIL is focused on reducing on its borrowings further towards meeting the expectation of all our stakeholders," he added. SCOPE and CCL, USA launch study to develop Future Fluent Leaders in PSEs Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), apex body of Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) and The Center for Creative Leadership (CCL), USA, engaged in learning and development with focus on effective leadership development, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to conduct a study on ‘Developing Future Fluent Leaders in PSEs.’ The MoU was signed between Atul Sobti, Director General SCOPE and Mr. Muniinder Anand, MD-India & South Asia, CCL. The MoU aims at conducting a study on assessing the prevailing leadership gaps and curating a learning module on developing effective and efficient leaders in the Indian Public Sector. The study shall adopt a qualitative and quantitative research methodology based on responses and experiences of the present leadership which would be further analyzed to identify relevant skills, mind sets, and experiences for future-fluent PSE leader in India. NTPC Group achieves 13.3% growth in gross generation in July NTPC group's monthly power generation rose by a robust 13.3% to 26.73 BUs in the month of July’20 compared to 23.59 BUs in June’20. NTPC Coal stations registered a growth of 5.6% on a YoY basis with generation of 21.89 BU compared to 20.74 BU in July’19. NTPC Korba (2600 MW) in Chhattisgarh achieved over 100% PLF during the month of July 2020. With a total installed capacity of 62910 MW, NTPC Group has 70 Power stations comprising of 24 Coal, 7 combined cycle Gas/Liquid Fuel, 1 Hydro, 13 Renewables along with 25 Subsidiary & JV Power Stations. For the convenience of passengers, Indian Railways decided to restore passenger train services in a phased manner. Presently, 230 special trains for passengers are running, while services of all other regular trains have been cancelled. Tickets booked through IRCTC website for the regular trains were cancelled online and amount credited accordingly, whereas, for passengers who had booked their tickets through PRS counters, at selected nominated stations the PRS counters were restarted for cancellations & booking w.e.f 27th May, 2020. It is worth mentioning that passengers can avail the refund within 180 days from the date of journey. The passengers are being given full refund. Due to cancellation of tickets, since 1st March, 2020 to 3rd August, 2020, Western Railway has ensured to return refund amount of Rs. 409.25 cr. Singh, Thirty One electric locomotives have been produced by Diesel Locomotive Works, Varanasi in July, 2020. Despite low progress at the beginning of month due to restrictions imposed to contain spread of Covid-19, DLW achieved record production of 31 Electric Locomotives in the month of July, 2020. The achievement becomes more significant because same was achieved after following all guidelines of Central and State Government to contain spread of COVID-19. Manager, Sudhir Kumar; Principal Chief Security Commissioner,Rajaram; Principal Heads of Departments, DRM/Khurda Road andother Senior officers. High end hardware and software have beenprocured and installed. Highly trained RPF personnel have beendeployed in this cell. GM/ECoR, Vidya Bhushan informed that thecyber cell will certainly help in better detection and prosecution ofincreasing white collar crimes that involve hi-tech technologies andIT systems. He also emphasized on more technological training tothe security personnel to tackle with the increasing online fraudcases.

SER’s RPF commendable performanceamid lockdown

South Eastern Railway(SER) RPF (RailwayProtection Force)personnel has played asignificant role inproviding security of railtravellers as well as inguarding the railwayproperty and its vitalinstallations. Duringlockdown, in the wake

of COVID-10 pandemic, RPF personnel of this railway has conductedsurprise drives and has imposed and realised fine and recoveredrailway property and other valuable goods worth Rs.85.66 lakhduring the period from 1st April to 30th June, 2020. Whileprotecting railway properties, RPF personnel arrested 45 criminalsunder RP(UP) Act and recovered railway properties worthRs.92,904/-. In another drive, security personnel booked 193offenders under different legal sections of Railway Act and realisedRs.70,770/- as fine. In a separate drive, RPF of SER have rescued 5minor girls and 4 minor boys from railway areas and they have beenhanded over to their relatives with proper verification andacknowledgement.

Singh, Thirty Oneelectric locomotives have been produced by Diesel LocomotiveWorks, Varanasi in July, 2020. Despite low progress at thebeginning of month due to restrictions imposed to contain spreadof Covid-19, DLW achieved record production of 31 ElectricLocomotives in the month of July, 2020. The achievement becomesmore significant because same was achieved after following allguidelines of Central and State Government to contain spread ofCOVID-19. During the production, all steps like regular sanitizationof work place, social distancing were taken to safeguard staffagainst spread of COVID-19. On this occasion, Singh congratulatedall the Heads of Departments and their staff. Due to the lockdownannounced by the Government of India, to contain spread ofCOVID-19, production of DLW has also been affected like otherindustries. But DLW is leaving no stone unturned to make up thedeficit in production caused by lockdown. In the current financialyear 2020-21, DLW has manufactured 28 electric locomotives tillJune, 2020. The production of 31 locomotives, in July alone, is amilestone in itself. It will be also worthwhile to mention that afterLockdown, within one week of the resumption of productionactivity at DLW (from 9th May), employees of DLW manufacturedthe first rail engine of the financial year and dedicated the same tonation on 16th May.

Jain Irrigation Systems announces Q4FY20 results Jain Irrigation Systems has posted a net loss of Rs 324.24 cr in thequarter ended March 2020 as against net profit of Rs 53.75 crduring the previous quarter ended March 2019. Vice Chairman andManaging Director of the Company, Anil Jain said, “The auditedfinancial results of the Company for the fourth quarter and yearended March 31, 2020 reflect the challenges faced by theCompany. The standalone performance is expectedly affected dueto liquidity constraints during the year.
