The K.E.E.N.Evolving from the Knowledge Worker

The ‘knowledge worker’ is a concept coined by

The knowledge worker is at odds with the typical Industrial Age worker.He/she provides value through their knowledge and the manipulation ofinformation.

The K.E.E.N.Evolving from the Knowledge Worker

As a concept, the knowledge workerstill:

– Works in a corporation, or a closedorganization

The ‘knowledge worker’ concept still needs to evolve

The concept was invented in the1980’s and does not account for therole of long distanceinterconnectivity

The K.E.E.N.Evolving from the Knowledge Worker

Works in a Corporation Nomad, jumps from organization to organization, project to project

Sells its knowledge that was acquired by education

Gives and creates knowledge

Publishes rarely (keeps knowledge for himself)

Contributes knowledge to the world

Low connection outside Corporation

Highly connected and international

The K.E.E.N. is the extrapolation of the Knowledge worker into theCollaborative Age. It goes beyond the assumptions at the basis of theknowledge worker.
