Superintendent Randolph recommended that the Board retain S&ME to conduct a GeoPhysical study of Clark Field for the suitability for the installation of artificial turf. C. Approve Staffing in Excess of the FY16 SBDM Section 4 Allocations 05-15-10 To maintain the current distribution model at Hopkins Elementary School it will be necessary to approve a total of two teaching (2) positions and .5 librarian position above the staffing allocation as provided in policy related to the distribution of SBDM Staffing Allocations (Section 4). (As an FYI: Hopkins Elementary was not over the staffing policy limits in FY 15.)

To maintain the current schedule and middle school team model, it will be necessary to approve a total of 5 teaching positions and .5 librarian position above the staffing policy allocation. (As an FYI: in FY15 Meece Middle School was permitted to exceed the staffing policy by 4 positions.)

To provide the staff to meet the planned course schedule and to continue support academic programs, it will be necessary to approve a total of 9 teaching positions and .5 librarian position above the staffing policy allocations. (As an FYI: in FY 15 Somerset High School was initially permitted to exceed the staffing policy by 6 positions and with the addition of Project Lead the Way and a full time band position ended the year at 7.41 over the allocation.)

Superintendent Randolph recommended that the Board authorize that Hopkins Elementary School be allocated an additional 2 certified teaching positions and .5 librarian position, that Meece Middle School be allocated an additional 5 certified teaching positions and .5 librarian position, and that Somerset High School be allocated an additional 9 certified positions and .5 librarian position above their respective staffing policy allocations for FY 16. Jeff L. Perkins made a motion to accept the recommendation of Superintendent Randolph. Elaine A. Wilson seconded the motion. The motion carried.

05-15-13 In anticipation for a partnership with Pulaski County Health Department and Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, the Board is being requested to create three (3) school nurse positions, to serve the students at each school. Superintendent Randolph recommended that the Board approve the creation of three (3) school nurse positions, to serve the students at each school.Dr. Michael W. Hail made a motion to accept the recommendation of Superintendent Randolph. Elaine A. Wilson seconded the motion. The motion carried.

E. Approve Reclassification of Positions for FY 161. (2) Accounting Clerk III positions to two (2) Administrative Secretary I

positions05-15-15 To better manage the needs of the District, the Board is being requested to reclassify two (2) existing 7163 Accounting Clerk III positions to two (2) 7762 Administrative Secretary I. The result of this action for FY 16 will be two (2) 7762 Administrative Secretary I positions and one (1) Accounting Clerk III position at the District office. Superintendent Randolph recommended that the Board approve the reclassification two (2) existing Accounting Clerk III positions to two (2) Administrative Secretary I positions at the District office. Superintendent Randolph recommended that the Board approve the reclassification of an existing Maintenance Technician I position to a Maintenance Technician III position for the District.

05-15-17 The Board is being requested to approve job descriptions for a School Nurse, Administrative Secretary I, and a Maintenance Technician III.

Class Code: 7263 LOCAL DISTRICT CLASSIFICATION PLAN

CLASS TITLE: SCHOOL NURSE

BASIC FUNCTION: Administer first aid according to established procedures; conduct a variety of health screenings; prepare and maintain accurate student medical records.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Administer first aid or nursing care for accidents, seizures, preventive medicine and other

educational-related medical problems; provide CPR and first aide to school employees as needed.

Conduct height, weight, vision, hearing, scoliosis and other health screenings as required; provide screening for head lice and observe students on a regular basis to detect health needs.

Refer students to appropriate personnel, resources or clinics and follow-up as necessary. Maintain health records and medical logs; update immunization and student records as needed;

prepare and submit periodical medical reports for appropriate organizations or District personnel and assure compliance with established laws and regulations.

Dispense and retain medication and perform medical treatment in accordance with physician's instructions within District guidelines.

Communicate with various community health agencies and civic organization to exchange information, coordinate activities and obtain student needs such as medication, glasses, hearing aids and clothing as needed.

Conduct training for students, parents and school staff as required. Provide information and make recommendations to principals, substitutes, teachers and parents

regarding health issues of students and school health program needs, develop programs to meet school health needs.

Make home visits as required; authorize re-admission to school. Maintain stock of first aid supplies; assure medical equipment is in proper working condition;

order supplies and equipment as needed. Participate in screening for health defects and sanitary conditions in schools. Maintain current knowledge of medical advances and information, public health issues and

treatment procedures. Perform related duties as assigned.

Approve the Certified Evaluation Plan 05-15-18 Per 704 KAR 3:345 and Somerset Independent School District Policy 03.18, each local school district shall have an evaluation plan and procedures approved by the Kentucky Department of Education. The attached plan was reviewed and approved by a committee made of two teachers from each building, each school principal, two district administrators and the superintendent.

After review by the Kentucky Department of Education, revisions were requested prior to Kentucky Department of Education approval of the plan. This version of the Certified Evaluation Plan reflects changes requested by the Kentucky Department of Education.
