About 45 to 60 minutes drive out of Cape Town lies the beautiful and fertile Elgin Valley, with the little town of Grabouw neatly tucked away. This is apple country,

and the region produces more than half of South Africa’s export apples. The valley is also well known for its cultivation of fl owers - particularly Proteas. The valley is popular with outdoor enthusiasts offering hiking and mountain biking trails in the

Hottentots-Holland Nature Reserve. For mouthwatering home-baked confectionary, teas and lunches, stop at one of the roadside farm-stalls. Indie Music sensation, Imogen Heap scheduled Cape Town as a destination stop on her tour of Ellipse.

Down in the valley of the Paul Cluver Wine Estate the most unique and awe inspiring setting for performances and it is only 45 minutes drive from Cape Town

International. A towering Eucalyptus forest circles the intimate open-air arena which has been hewn from farm timber in its entirety. Performances are specifi cally chosen to match the natural acoustics of the venue. My two best friends and I could not miss this opportunity to see and experience one of Cape Town’s most amazing

narture spots, culminated with the music we have always loved. We booked a little cottage.. Rate: R175.00 pp per night sharing.

Depending on how many beds per cottage.

Aanhouwen farm is situated app. 4.2km from the N2 on the Viljoenshoop Road.Once on Aanhouwen you are met with the most beautiful sight of surroundings

Groenland Mountains and dams.

There are 5 chalets and each chalet has a beautiful view of the open fi elds, mountains & dams. Plenty of bird life for the bird watchers, fi shing for the fl y or bass

fi sherman. Walking and jogging for the fi tness enthusiasm. Braai and listening to the frogs as the sun sets, all the peace and tranquility nature provides. An amazzzzinggg weekend for a battery charge and a memorable occassion with

your best galpals. Four-hundred bux petrol, a picnic basket of 200bux goodies, bottle of bubbly and camera! Leaving Grabouw on the way back to Cape Town we

stopped at the Peregrine Stall for breakfast and yummied ourselves on warm muffi ns, koeksisters and freshly squeezed juice.

So take give yourself an awesome little weekend away in the heart of nature and great company, for less than R1000. My advice: Try it.
