Chaplain’s Corner

Deacon Steve Chaplain’s Corner

While at a weekday mass once, I heard through the homily, how many Catholics believe that if they say rosaries, come to Mass every day, do novenas, that this is how we show others we are Catholic. But, there must be more. We must take what we believe, as well as take how we believe, out the church's doors. It's not enough to be with others in the church, but we must go out into our workplaces, neighborhoods and circle of friends and show what it means to be Catholic. We can do this by how we live our lives, how we react to world events, and how we treat others as well.

The Knights of Columbus is a perfect way to do this. We must evangelize to others thorough our actions, as well as our words to make a difference in someone's life. It doesn't have to be in a big way or to thousands of people. Get involved with what you truly feel comfortable doing. Start with the person next to you and just spread the gospel. Be there for others, show them what it means to be Catholic. Vivat Jesus, Deacon Steve

All attending testified that Kent was his usual gracious host and everyone had an excellent time. 6/21-7/4 – Fortnight for Freedom – was held again this year. Thanks to all that attended; this year we prayed the rosary every night except Wednesdays due to Mass. 7/11- Corporate Communion 5:00 Mass – we had a good attendance and showed our parish our support of the Knights and the Church. Father Pat welcomed the Council and commented on the service we provide the Parish, to which we got an applause. Due to obligations, our Church Director was unable to attend; Brother Philip Blevens stood in and directed members to our section. Thanks, Philip. 7/11 – Officer Installation after 5:00 Mass Council Officers were installed after Mass. This was our first official function with our newly appointed District Deputy John Norfleet. David Morrissey performed as the District Warden, Scott Goodman as the Council Warden.

8/15 – KNIGHTS SOUNDS GAME This date has been set up for a Sounds game with all local councils invited. More information will be forthcoming at the business meeting.

BE SURE TO CHECK OUT THE COUNCIL’S WERBSITE CALENDAR FOR EVENTS

AND UPDATES http://kofcknights.org/CouncilSite/?CNO=9282

By now, you should have received an email with the outline of all the programs the program activity directors have scheduled for the upcoming fraternal year. As you look at the list, you should notice we have a very aggressive plan. Now comes your part: I am asking you to do one thing for me – take the time to seriously look over the list of activities for the year. As you do so, find at least one activity for which you could have a passion to work. With all the activities listed, you should have no problem finding one. Once you have identified the activity you have a passion for, contact the activity chairman and offer your help. If every member would just find one activity he could work, we would have no problem continuing to be a very active and successful council. PS- the side benefit of doing the above and working the event is that you just may meet a fellow knight that may be your next best buddy.

Our Council’s Regular Activities

CULTURE OF LIFE Prayer vigils still continue on Saturday mornings at the abortion clinic next to Grace Pregnancy Center with a rosary at 6:45 am. Contact Sir Knight John Norfleet if you need directions. Monday Night Rosary The Council continues to sponsor a rosary service for the Pope, vocations, those serving in Armed Forces and for the sick and distressed of the St. Stephen Community. Each Brother Knight is encouraged to participate in the Monday night Rosary. It is conducted every Monday at 6:15pm in the Chapel. First Friday Eucharistic Adoration Please make it a point to attend at least one First Friday Adoration this year in the Church at 7:00pm. Our goal is for every member to attend at least one adoration this year. No role will be taken; it is on the honor system. MEMBERSHIP ITEMS Membership All Brother and Sir Knights are encouraged to sign up a new Knight. New membership is our lifeblood and insures that the Council will continue to flourish as we move into the future. If you need a Form 100(membership application), please contact Mark Heckel or GK Bob Young.
