This study examines the concept of empathy, which is

required as the basic attitude for a therapist. The examina-

tion is carried out through the practice of psychotherapy

for a male patient who repeats acting-out. As the technical

aspect of empathy, the author discusses an imagination of

a client's experience, and as the functional aspect of empa-

thy, he discusses building relationship and encouraging

therapeutic development. Moreover, as the essential ele-

ment of empathy, he discusses "being" of a therapist for a

client's fierce and deep emotions latent in acting-out.

After-school care services were built in the Amendment

Child Welfare Law in 1997 as services in context of rear-

ing and civilizing all of child after school. Such services

are increasing rapidly but the qualities of services in par-

ticular those of care-workers are concerned. Under the

Amendment law did not set up a standard of requirements

of care-workers for schoolchildren. Therefore there are dif-

fer in the qualities among care-workers and in fact they are

unqualified and inexperienced workers or people from a

variety of backgrounds. A job as a care-worker needs skills

of relationship with children, but there are no special schools

to train after-school care-worker. Therefore, training work-

shops for current care-workers are necessity in order to

improve their childcare skills. A case study conference es-

pecially is significant for their training.

This paper is concerned with the case study itself for

current after-school care-workers and proposes a procedure

of case study conference from a welfare viewpoint. This

case study conference only deal with a case concerned about

daily communication between care-workers and children

and explores a subject of relationship between care-work-

ers and children. Under this conference understandings of

children feelings and strengths perspectives are focused on,

then coping with children are considered based on the prin-

This paper deals with sports activities of handicapped

people and public sports facilities. Sports is important to

handicapped people especially because it rehabilitates them.

So I investigated the use of handicapped people about pub-

lic sports facilities and carried out examination of prob-

lems about sports activities of handicapped people.

Abstract

Youth employment difficulties have been less marked in

Japan than in most other advanced economies.But as evi-

denced by many researches and surveys, e.g., the recent

White Paper on the National Lifestyle, growing attention

is being drawn to the "Freeter" phenomenon and low at-

tachment to labor market among Japanese youth. Stag-

nant economy, changes in youth attitudes and values , the

mismatch between aspirations of school and college gradu-

ates and the employment opportunities open to them, are

main causes for the problem.

This paper summarizes various arguments put forth sur-

rounding youth labor and points out the necessity of fur-

ther research and social policy innovation ,since unem-

ployed or inactive youth will have grave consequences for

the future.
