NEWS OF THE WORLD LEADER IN ESSENTIAL OILS

This past month has allowed me to work closely with Young Living’s great distributors as they have come to learn, visit, and help harvest melissa and Douglas fir at the St. Maries farm.

It was really fun sharing the harvesting and distilling expe-riences with everyone—from the few who came to the melissa harvest that, because of the weather, turned into the Douglas fir harvest to the more than 100 Silver distributors, who spent an entire day on the farm in early August. Rubbing shoulders with the distributors allows me the opportunity to get to know those who are sharing Young Living’s message of wellness, purpose, and abundance with the world. It is inspiring to see the quality of people we have in the Young Living family and their commitment to the oils.

Of course, seeing firsthand what Young Living does to deliver the highest-quality oils by living the Seed to Seal process is the greatest learning experience possible; living it lays a solid foundation as you look to build your Young Living business.

Each of our harvests is a great experience! It is at these harvests that we spend time together sharing stories of healing and restoration brought about by exclusive Young Living products. It is these stories that keep me going and that give me the energy to continue in my study and sharing of essential oils.

Thank you to all who came and participated in the harvests during July and August, and I extend a welcome to all of you to come and be part of our future harvests. We are a company that provides life-changing experiences for all who participate.

Founder’s Message

More than 100 Silver distributors from around the world met in stunning Coeur d’ Alene and St. Maries, Idaho, for an exhilarating weekend of discovery during Young Living’s Silver Retreat held in August.

This year’s retreat saw a record turnout from excited distributors, more than doubling the attendance of previous years, including Silvers from the U.S., Austria, Australia, and Singapore. Each individual came away with a greater appreciation and understanding of what it means to be part of Young Living.

“I have dreamed about this for four years,” exclaimed Minnesota’s Suzanne Cekalla, who achieved Silver rank in November 2010. “I’m so committed to Young Living; it has changed my life!”

The highlight of the retreat was the Saturday experience that only Gary Young could have offered: a thrilling 12-hour adventure at the St. Maries farm that provided all the opportunity

to learn from, work with, and be inspired by Gary.

After a quick, early-morning group photo with Gary and Mary, the distributors were led to the lavender, where each had the opportunity of making bath salts and sachets. This unique venture quickly turned inspi-rational as Gary gathered together the distributors and shared his love for Young Living and his thoughts on growing a successful Young Living business.

“I was very inspired by Gary and his passion,” said a smiling Maria Billis, a distributor from Saratoga Springs, New York. “I absolutely loved being at the farm with Gary, and I trust him and what he does.”

Following Gary’s meaningful thoughts and an exquisite, organic lunch, the distributors were whisked away to the melissa field, where the real fun began. The sweet-scented melissa was ready to harvest, and the distributors dug right in. They learned how the plants are harvested and were shown the intricacies of the distillation process. Distributors took turns working in the distiller, a giant vat in which the oil is steam distilled from the plant, and came away impressed and amazed. By that time, dusk had fallen and it was time to return to Coeur d’ Alene.

Prior to the life-enhancing experiences at the St. Maries farm, the distributors

were filled with power and knowledge about Young Living’s products during Friday’s masterful lessons from Doug Corrigan, Doug Cloward, Nick Killpack, and Mike McLean.

“This experience has been absolutely over the top,” said Maria Billis. “The product is unsurpassable; the people are incredible; the company is full of integrity. It was so intense and I always leave Young Living events wanting them to last longer.”

Mona, UtahThe lavender farm staff in Mona

has been busy harvesting and distilling hyssop, lavender, and clary sage. Those associated with the farm are still excited about the success of Lavender Days.

St. Maries, IdahoBecause of the cool weather,

harvesting of melissa had to wait until the end of July and first of August. However, with the help of many employees and distributors, including more than 100 Silvers, St. Maries is back on track and harvesting lavender. Make plans now to attend the pine harvest in October!

Salalah, OmanDr. Mahmoud Suhail recently

traveled to Utah to work with Gary and Young Living’s Research Team. While in the U.S., Dr. Suhail also spent time at the University of Oklahoma Medical School with Dr. HK Lin, researching benefits of Boswellia sacra frankincense.

Guayaquil, EcuadorAt the farm in Ecuador, 12

more acres of the new plant mastrante were just planted; also in the process of being planted are lemongrass and vetiver. The farm has also recently harvested basil and rose.

Simiane-la-Rotonde, France The France farm is bustling.

Jean-Noel has just planted hyssop, clary sage, and lavandin. Also, the farm has produced and bottled all of next year’s Young Living lavender essential oil.

PeruThe new distillery has been

built in Ecuador and is ready to be moved into Peru this month.

ResearchMarc Schreuder and Dr. HK Lin, a Young Living research consultant, traveled to Taiwan to work with leading scientists in essential oil research at the National Taiwan University and the National Pingtung University of Science and Technology. While there, Marc and HK were invited to give guest lectures for essential oil classes; they both attended and presented lectures at the 2011 International Symposium on Natural Products for Alternative Therapy held in Pingtung.

Cooler-than-normal temperatures in Idaho during July delayed the harvesting and distilling of melissa at the St. Maries farm.

But, as he usually does, Gary Young had another plan in the works. With more than 50 distributors on hand waiting to harvest the melissa, Gary quickly moved his attention to Douglas fir after learning that Young Living was running low on the popular oil and would need more by fall.

“We tried to make it possible for everyone to participate and experience every step of the process,” said Gary. “From cutting trees to loading them into the chipper, loading the extraction chamber, distilling, and then finally decanting and bottling, the distributors who contributed gained a deep appreciation for the labor, time, and expense required to provide the finest oils.”

Through their dedicated efforts, more than 3 gallons of Douglas fir

essential oil was produced in one week. But all who helped came away with much more than just having produced oil.

“They saw firsthand that at Young Living there are no compromises and no shortcuts, a philosophy that is not offered by any other essential oil company in the world,” said Gary.

Every evening, after finishing work in the timber, the group gathered for dinner and trainings on oil usage, Raindrop Technique®, and building a successful Young Living business.

The harvest provides the perfect setting to learn the Young Living way. Gary explained that “after coming

and experiencing the harvest, all who came went home with a passion to build their business and to share the oils with the world.”

Vicky Strong came to Young Living in June 1996 to work in the old Riverton building, when there were three hand fillers, one small mixer, and the bottles were labeled by hand. She watched the first automated filling machine be installed and was the first to send those bottles out the door. Vicky’s dedication and hard work has made her an integral part of Young Living’s growth and success as it has spread throughout the world.

“When I started working for Young Living 15 years ago, the company was housed in one small building in Riverton,” recalls Vicky. “I then had the wonderful opportunity of working

Young Living’s track record of outstanding growth has reached a new milestone—recently reaching 20,000 Facebook fans. This social marketing achievement is evidence Young Living is actively promoting its brand, engaging its audience, and bringing its powerful essential oils to the world.

In recent months, our Web Marketing Team has focused on implementing social media into all aspects of the Young Living experience. This intense focus has led to phenomenal Facebook viewership, as detailed in the following statistics:

with Gary and Mary and helping with the move to the Payson office building, then on to Springville, and now we’re in the beautiful, state-of-the-art Spanish Fork warehouse; it’s been a fun ride!”

One of Vicky’s most memorable moments with Young Living involved a lot of painting and not a lot of help. The night before moving to the now-infamous Payson warehouse, Vicky and Mary Young were painting the entire building well into the wee morning hours, laughing and having a good time. So much work needed to be done, and the deadline was quickly approaching, when Mary’s mother,

LaRue, pulled up to the building in her van one morning with about ten men she had hired from a job service agency. Vicky remembers fondly that LaRue had “gone out on her own and offered people work, which gave us the help we really needed.”

Since beginning those 15 years ago, Vicky, like Young Living, has grown and succeeded. “When I started with Young Living, I wasn’t healthy at all. Now I feel great, I love the oils, and I love knowing that what I do really helps other people.”

For 15 great years, Vicky Has Been Key to Young Living’s Success

Passion for Life, Essential Oils Motivates New Diamond

Judy De La Rosa’s passion to positively affect people inspires and enhances the lives of those around her. Since 1997 when Judy first discovered Young Living essential oils, her life began a course of adventure as she began sharing and

teaching about the mission of Young Living, which has taken her to many unexpected places in the world.

“Right from the start I immersed myself in learning everything I could about the essential oils and sharing that knowledge with others,” explained Judy, who recently became Young Living’s newest Diamond distributor.

Judy’s first experience with essential oils began years before she found Young Living. In 1985 she was a student of Indian Ayurvedic tech-niques, an opportunity that sent her to Egypt, France, Ecuador, and Australia to gain an understanding of essential oil use in world cultures.

The pursuit for understanding that took Judy around the globe during those enlightening years is the same drive that has propelled her through more than 800 classroom hours at Young Living and the reason she has been instrumental in opening Mexico to the unique benefits of Young Living products.

“I love the opportunity Young Living

gives me to change people’s lives,” she said. “It is so rewarding to share these special gifts from God with others. It is about giving people the means to allow their true spirit to shine through on a daily basis each time they use an essential oil.”

Judy’s advice for new distributors is simple: focus on personal growth and taking care of those you introduce to Young Living. Be clear about what is important to you and why you want to build a Young Living business.

“Think about what it will take for you to have a life filled with vitality and purpose.”

If you are interested in learning more from Judy about keys to building a successful Young Living business, register now for the 2011 Convention, as Judy will be teaching the class “Building Success Globally.”
