Old Business:
It was a fun show at Foothills Toyota, but really cold. Not
as many people showed up, probably due to the
demonstration at Shell. Dave Putnam, Dave Overton and
Bryan Pierson won trophies.
We got a lot of work done on Trailer Day, the weather was
very nice. We counted and sorted the raffle prizes and
cleaned the trailer inside and out. 17 people showed up to
help and went to the Dragon Inn restaurant for lunch after.
It was voted on and passed to have two fifty dollar raffles at
both out Saturday and Sunday shows June 4th
and June 5th
.
A possible date for the Shell show is Aug. 27. Details are
still to be worked out.
DUES ARE NOW DUE!!
For our Waterfront shows be there by 7 AM, wear club
shirts and have your radios charged.

We need new tires and wheels for the trailer, Paul is
looking into it.

Blast from the Past:
Waterfront Festival Car Show
Sunday, May 16, 1999, by Donna Ducken
What a disappointment i t was to wake up Sunday
morning to rain after the gorgeous sunny day we had on
Saturday. Never the less, the show must go on and many
were there when Steve & I arrived at 7:00 a.m.
Unfortunately Linda Telles, Linda Gilbert and Steve
Nowicki were sick and couldn't perform the duties they
signed up to do. No problem, others quickly filled in to
cover their positions for the show.
Chris Barker, Duckens, Ron Foster, Doug Gilbert,
Hammers, Kevin Humann, Humphreys, Paul Kellogg,
Ande Mitchelle, Oistens, Joanne Olson, Dave Overton,
Reeds, Ron Telles and Drew York all pitched in to set
up. Steve D. climbed on top of the overhang to spread
out the tarps that "always prepared" Jim Reed had
thrown into the trailer.
Ande found a wood pile and "borrowed" some boards to
make an overhang with the second tarp. It was a comedy
of errors putting the first gazebo together but the second
one went up easily. Once we were organized we kind of
looked at each other and wondered how it would be if
no one came! Not to worry, cars soon began arriving
and to our surprise we ended up with 68 entrants.
Everyone was in good spirits and almost all bought
extra door prize and raffle tickets.
(Blast from the Past: continued)
The new areas we had to park worked out well and the
sound system reached everyone!
In fact Steve picked such good CDs to play that many
participants wanted the titles and Jim thought we could have
made some extra money had we had some copies to sell!
Because of the rain the only place to count money and the
ballots was in the Reeds pickup..good thing we had it there!
The rain never let up until around 1 p.m. and then everyone
dried off their cars and opened their hoods and the public
appeared out of nowhere!
Right before the trophy presentation, I gave away the 6 raffle
items we had. The first 3 numbers I drew belonged to our
club members and many were jokingly grumbling about it ,
in particular a Whidbey Cruisers member named Ray. I
"invited" Ray to come up and draw the next winner, which
he did. The ticket he drew belonged to..HIS WIFE!
It was all above board but such a funny coincidence! We had
36 trophies to give away and I was delighted to award 1 to
Paul Kellogg with his "new" 1994 coupe (to replace the one
he totaled). Other club winners were Duckens, Humann,
Martin/Franzen and Overton.
I heard nothing but compliments on how fun this show was
and imagine how many cars we would have had if it would
have been sunny!
After tearing down, which went quicker than the set up, we
headed out to go eat. But first I'll tell you that during the tear
down. Drew climbed up to untie the big blue tarps and first
gave Jim Reed a "shower" and then tried to "drown" Doug
Gilbert! They both survived and after a nice meal at Randys
we said our goodbyes and headed for home. It was a long
tiring day but tons of fun. If you have never worked one of
the shows you are really missing out on some great
comradery.
A big thanks to all who came out to support our show (other
clubs) and members who gave up their Sunday to help.
Until the next time..remember what I always say..Save the
Wave!
