MM Dobson, November 22. The Dobson Woman's Club met in regular monthly session last Thursday evening at the club house. The president, Mrs. Han- cock and all officers were pres- ent and in line for their various duties. Meeting opened with the club song after which the collect j was given by the entire club. The j roll call proved a full attendance | and the minutes of the October j meeting were read and approved.! During the business hour plans' were made for a bazaar to be held sooon and other business; problems voted and approved. The attendance prize was won by Mrs. Jennie Stanley. Miss Emma Com- er chairman of committee for the month, announced the subject for discussion in the evening pro- gram, "Government Begins at Home." First, Miss Vera Stanton, Home Demonstration Agent, made a helpful talk on "Making the Home Attractive." Mrs. Emma Reece Mock spoke on "Culture in the Home," and Rev. C. W. Russell discussed the "Spiritual Values of the Home." Mrs. Grady Cooper concluded the program with a piano solo "Hu- moresque." During the social hour light re- freshments with hot Russian tea were served by the following com- mittee: Miss Emma Comer, Mes- dames Warren Alberty, J. G. Lew- ellyn, A. H. Wolfe, Joe Folger, J. W. Comer, Mrs. E. L. Taylor and Mrs. Woodhouse. The coldest weather for sev- eral years in November has been experienced here for the past 4 days. The second week of Superior Court convened this morning. Judge Clement presiding. News came Sunday to Dobson ; relatives of the death of Rev. Joe M. Folger and Mrs. Tom Mackie, both of Mt. Airy. Their deaths occurring Saturday evening. Rev. Joe Folger's funeral will be held this afternoon from the Methodist church and Mrs. Mack- ie's from her home on South Main street, with Interment at Yadkin- vUle. Mrs. W. B. Norman returned Sunday from Carthage where she spent two weeks with her daugh- ter, Mrs. J. H. McNeill. Mrs. W. E. Hancock, Mrs. C. G. Comer, Mrs. Emma Mock, Mrs. Elizabeth Bolick of Dobson and Mrs. Osier Woltz and Mrs. John j Frank of Mt. Airy. Miss Mazie Comer of Raleigh is spending Thanksgiving week with home folks in Dobson. Rev. O. H. Edythe Reece, Mazie Comer, Emma Com- er, Mesdames Emma Mock and Cindy Comer motored to Hillsville, Va., Sunday afternoon. COOL SPRINGS Of special interest to their many friends here is the recent marriage of Mr. Walter Blackburn to Made- lon Newman and Mr. Edworth Wood to Miss Sylvia Darnell. The double ceremony was performed quietly at Wilkesboro, with only immediate relatives present. All of these young people are of Cool Springs community, al- though Mr. Wood lives in the Pleasant Hill community, near Elkin, he attends church and S. S. here. Miss Newman is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Newman, Mr. Blackburn Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonidas Blackburn. They will continue to reside in the Cool Springs com- munity. Miss Darnell is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Darnell and Mr. Wood the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wood. They are fine young ladies and gentle- men and an asset to any com- munity. We wish for them a hap- py voyage on the matrimonial sea. The series of meetings just closed has been well attended, a crowded auditorium most every evening. Three ministers spent the week with us", Rev. I. W. \Jps- tal, pastor, Rev. H. F. Lawrence, Rev. G. W. Swinny. Also we were glad for the many ministers who visited here during the week. We will not forget to mention the splendid cooperation of all the churches around us, and we were especially glad for David Day who led the congregation each evening ?i , - - in the grand old hymns. Also we had special singing 4very evening by visiting quartettes from Pleas- ant Hill, Winston-Salem and else- where. Seventeen were baptized Sunday at 2 o'clock. Some joined by letter. Many were restored 3 who had through remaining away from church and general neglect of duty, grown cold and Indiffer- ent. We trust that our S. S. and chinch will be much improved In ( attendance now and that we may | go forward with new courage. Vis- I itors who returned for the meet- ilng were Mrs. T. H. Eidson, Miss Laura Wall, Mr. Rob Wall and many others spent a few days here with friends. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Wagoner of Boonville were week-end guests of j Mr. and Mrs! A. C. Wall. We won't mention the ministers as they dined with everyone pos- sible, taking one meal in each home and then did not get around. A good number from Traphill attended the service Sunday morning we were glad to have with us Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Settle, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Darnell, and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Darnell of Elkin Valley. All of these young people areof Cool Springs community, al-though Mr. Wood lives in thePleasant Hill community, nearElkin, he attends church and S.S. here. Miss Newman is thedaughter of Mr. and Mrs. PaulNewman, Mr. Blackburn Is theson of Mr. and Mrs. LeonidasBlackburn. They will continue toreside in the Cool Springs com-munity. Miss Darnell is thedaughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. W.Darnell and Mr. Wood the son ofMr. and Mrs. Paul Wood. They

are fine young ladies and gentle-men and an asset to any com-munity. We wish for them a hap-py voyage on the matrimonial sea.
