Significant moisture content variations occur in timber surface layers. Similar proportion could be expected for shrinkage stresses values in these layers.

Lessons:

In engineered wood products reological propertiesof timber laminations (elements) influence also themoisture related stress strain properties of wholemoisture related stress-strain properties of wholetimber product. ConclusionA moisture change is strongly related to the wood elementsize, growth (tree physiology), mechanical, heat treatmentand many other properties and factors. Ideally modeling andy y gpredicting of performance of timber load bearing element aswell as practical recommendations of accounting of theeffects of climatic exposures (moisture action) with secureprecision needs elaboration of models linking stress-strain/moisture/growth properties.
