Team's Comments about the Project Each team had to provide a short follow-up at the beginning, middle and the end of their research paper. This document will regroup all of these so that the reader can understand a little more the challenges that are encountered during class. Follow-Up #1 ( February 13, 2015) As of today it is going well. There are many research papers on the subject of Experiential Learning (ExL); however, there are no current studies relating ExL to entrepreneurship, and the effectiveness of utilizing multimedia to recreate the ExL experience. My partner Alexis, and I have created a survey in order to best determine the key points of external speakers, and the techniques they use to keep the class engaged. By analyzing the findings of our survey we will submit one class to the speaker, and one to a visual presentation/summation of the same speaker, and compare and contrast the results. Additionally, are in the process of contacting students currently in BMG 318 and past students of the class in order to gain further insight on the ExL process and the benefits it provides. BMG 318 is a course designed around pairing students with established entrepreneurs and placing them in a consulting role. By studying the feelings of the students towards the course, and picking out the most consistent learning objectives we will be able to further solidify what is required for the students to truly master the entrepreneurial arts, and the most beneficial ways to recreate the experience through multimedia.

Team's Comments about the Project

Each team had to provide a short follow-up at the beginning, middle and the end of

their research paper. This document will regroup all of these so that the reader can

understand a little more the challenges that are encountered during class.

Follow-Up #1 ( February 13, 2015)

As of today it is going well. There are many research papers on the subject of

Experiential Learning (ExL); however, there are no current studies relating ExL to

entrepreneurship, and the effectiveness of utilizing multimedia to recreate the ExL

experience. My partner Alexis, and I have created a survey in order to best determine the

key points of external speakers, and the techniques they use to keep the class engaged. By

analyzing the findings of our survey we will submit one class to the speaker, and one to a

visual presentation/summation of the same speaker, and compare and contrast the results.

Additionally, are in the process of contacting students currently in BMG 318 and past

students of the class in order to gain further insight on the ExL process and the benefits it

provides. BMG 318 is a course designed around pairing students with established

entrepreneurs and placing them in a consulting role. By studying the feelings of the

students towards the course, and picking out the most consistent learning objectives we

will be able to further solidify what is required for the students to truly master the

entrepreneurial arts, and the most beneficial ways to recreate the experience through

multimedia.

Attached is the survey we have devised in order to determine the best practices of the

speakers, and the survey will be used in order to determine the effectiveness of our media

presentation.

Follow-Up #2 (March 20, 2015)

Comment #2 Progress Report Dividing Our Project: Topics In Entrepreneurship

Our project, being an action project in BMG 320, we had been given the

opportunity to record guest speakers in the class of BMG 214, another Bishop’s

University entrepreneurship class. Our project had two parts the action part, where we

would do something in real life and a document explaining our findings of the theory

behind the action. Our Topic was Experiential Learning. Quickly to sum it up it is a

hands on style of learning, where in a cyclical fashion one learns by going through

“Kolb’s Cycle of Experiential Learning”.

Matt will go forward with the research and Alexis will do the action part. Matt has

done much research to this point and has a fair understanding of the topic. As far as it

goes for research he believes he is ready. Now to complete the paper he will find time in

his busy schedule to sit down and write the fifteen page document.

Alexis has recorded three of the four guest speakers. Two of the guest speakers

have been completely edited and are ready to be viewed. Alexis has been talking to

Guillaume, the representative of the webpage, and they have been in discussion on how

the video should be hosted on the internet. The decision was made that it would be

simplest to go through Youtube.

Overall for both members there has been some obstacles that have been meet but

those have been overcome and they are looking forward to completing the project.

Overall Comment on the Semester (Follow-Up #3, April 8, 2015)

Comments #3 Final Looking At Our Overall Project: Topics In Entrepreneurship

Looking back at what has been learnt during this project, we can say with

confidence that this experience was well worth the time spent. Matt Jones had focused

more on the literary component of the project while Alexis Stogowski had focused more

on the action portion of the project. Here is what Matt had to say: The project was an

interesting way to explore the world of experiential Learning and truly understand its

meaning and applications. With this new found knowledge we where able to see how

teachers are trying to incorporate this new method into student teachings through

different classes that I have taken over the years. However with many classes having

curriculum’s already set and with older teaching styles that have been long established, I

could see where teachers are having difficulty integrating experimental learning into the

classroom. Nevertheless a movement in teaching can be felt in the classroom. Group

projects and independent learning playing a larger and larger role in todays classrooms.

Ultimately it will be the students that will benefit from a more adapted teaching style.

Alexis Stogowski’s responsibilities included recording the guest speakers and

editing the recording. There was also a small component of trying to accumulate any

information that could be beneficial. His statement is as follows: I remember my first

video took me nearly a whole weekend to complete. Now within a few hours I can have a

video completed and ready to share. I took a lot of time to simply research the ins and

outs of the video editing software, I used iMovie on an Apple computer. However now

that I have this knowledge I believe it will be useful for me in the future. If I was to be

asked what I would do differently, I would have to say offering more angles of viewing

to the spectator. Offering different angles might keep the viewer more interested and

focused on the presentation. Overall I would say it was a success, but there is always

room for improvement.
