The EF English Proficiency Index (EF EPI) is a ranking of countries by adult English

levels.

It looks at historical performance of countries going back eight years via a sample set of more than 5 million adult test takers.

EF English Proficiency Index for Schools

A companion to the main EF EPI report, the EF EPI for Schools examines the English levels of high school and university students from around the world.

• Students who participate in the EF EPI-s research will take the EF Standard English Test (EFSET), which is benchmarked to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) and can give your students projected IELTS and TOEFL scores.

• Students will also see how they compare to their peers in their country and across the world.

University of North Carolina Professor Ric Luecht’s studies show that the EFSET correlates positively with TOEFL and IETLS. This means that the three tests assess reading and listening skills with similar reliability and accuracy.
