Flipgrid LingoGrids

A grid is your classroom or community of learners. Grids house

your topics

Topics

Topics are your discussion starters or prompts. Students respond

to topics

Responses

These are your students videos they record and add to the topic.

This is how they share their voice!

Replies

You reply to a response. This is only available with a Flipgrid

Classroom account.

4

Adding Topics to Your GridsTopics are where your learners share their videos with the community.

You can create as many topics as you would like within a grid.

By default response time is set to 1:30.

With a Classroom account you have more response

times to choose from. You’ll need to add a title and description/question to your topic.

These are required. The description or question is the prompt students will read to

know what to respond to.

Bring life to your topic by adding a topic resource! This is an optional setting, but will help greatly in getting your students engaged in your topic!

WIth the most recent update to Flipgrid you can now add a file attachment as a resource for your students when they are preparing to add a response!

5

Adding Topics cont…

The replies to a response is a video,

not text comment response. This feature is only

available to Flipgrid Classroom accounts.

The Response Features are the settings or options you enable students to have access to when adding their responses.

Flipgrid has done a great job of give teachers control over all these features!

Give students feedback on their response added to your grid. There are two options, basic and custom. The basic feedback is

the default setting chosen.

Feedback gets sent to the student by email. For teachers to give and students receive feedback students must

enter an email when submitting their response. Teachers can require this in the response features.

6

Adding Response to a Grid

After successful submission you’ll be taken directly

back to the grid where you will see your response has

been added & viewable to all!

#1Click the plus icon to begin

and add your response.

#2Click the record button to begin. When

finish click the green “next” arrow to review your response.

#3Snap a selfie and add

Stickers or drawing to it!

#4Enter in your info (some is optional) and

click the green submit button!

Flipgrid Explorer SeriesThe Flipgrid Explorer Series is a way for

students to connect and engage with people

doing interesting things around the world.

These events give students the opportunity to

learn from experts all over the globe and allow

them to experience what it is like to be in a

career they may otherwise have never even

thought of!

The first explorer was Laura

Goetz, a marine biologist

stationed at Palmer Station in

Antarctica. How cool is that?

Check Flipgrid.com/antarctica

and all of the incredible students

who engaged in the discussion.

The second Explorer was Mike

Billington, a raptor expert with the

University of Minnesota Raptor

Center. Mike gave students a bird’s

eye view into the world of Raptors

and discussed wildlife

conservation. Visit his grid at

flipgrid.com/raptors.

Flipgrid has LOTS of amazing explorers lined up to take

your class on an incredible virtual adventure! Be sure to

follow @Flipgrid or check out blog.flipgrid.com/news to

get the 411 on the next explorer in the series.
