CCBI UTHSHIP Website Launched at Belthangady, 30 September 2012
CCBI Youth Commission was pleased to launch its national wide website “UTHSHIP” on the occa-sion of the 8th Karnataka Regional Catholic Youth Convention 'Yuvajanotsva 2012', at Belthangady on 30th September 2012.
The website was launched in the pres-ence of Dr. Bernard Mo-
ras, Archbishop of Banga-lore, 13 Bishops from the state of Karnataka, Sri Vincent Pala, Union Min-ister for water resources and minority affairs, Dr. M Veerappa Moily, Union Minister, Oscar Fer-nandes, MP, and Ronald Colaco, industrialist and philanthropist. About 5000 youth from the state of Karnataka wit-
nessed the launch of the CCBI Youth Commission website.
Fr. Elias ofm, the Execu-tive Secretary of CCBI Youth Commission, intro-duced the website as a communication tool that will make the Youth Com-mission par with the mind of the youth in the world, and thereupon invited

the Chairman of the CCBI Youth Com-mission, Bish-op Henry D’Souza to launch the website. Bish-op Henry D’Souza, in-voking the blessings of Almighty God over the work of the National Commission, launched the website at the click of a button.
This website will cover the youth activities from all the 13 regions and the various youth move-ments. It will also bring
the youth news under various sections such as regional, National and international. It will trans-late the ideas of the youth via articles and success stories under the headings - spiritual, so-cial, ethical, success and career. The website will also enable the youth to
become leaders and achievers through two of its main projects during the year of Faith “Biblical Secrets to Success and Career Guidance mod-ules” which are aimed to cover the virtual Indian/world market specially the youth in India.

It was fol-lowed by a solemn Eucha-ristic Celebration presid-ed over by the Chairman of KRYC, Bishop Henry D’Souza. After formally inaugurating the event, Bishop Henry D’Souza said, "Youth should be-come the agents of change in society, form-ing themselves as leaders and achievers." The key-note address was deliv-ered by Fr. Faustine Lobo, National Director of Pon-tifical Mission Societies.

Karnataka. A youth march for peace was flagged off by Sri Vincent Pala, Union Minister for water re-sources and minority affairs. Dr. Bernard Mo-ras, Archbishop of Banga-lore, Dr. M Veerappa Moily, Union Minister, Oscar Fernandes, MP, and Ronald Colaco, indus-trialist and philanthropist were the chief guests. Addressing thousands of youth, Ronald Colaco, NRI entrepreneur and philan-thropist said, “In India even though Christians are in minority, our con-tribution in the field of education, health care and social service is com-mendable, when com-pared to the contribu-tions of any other com-munity”. As many as 1,500 repre-sentatives and members of Diocesan Youth Com-missions of Karnataka, Bosco Youth, AICUF, Jesus Youth, ICYM and MSYS from around 750 parishes across the state took part in the mega convention. On day two, 29 Septem-ber 2012, two panel dis-cussions formed the high-lights of the day. The first discussion was on ‘Youth are called to be achievers and leaders’. Mr. R V D’Souza, Bangalore (public service), Sabita Monis (academia), Cajetan Dias (creative arts), Praveen Kumar (political life) inspired the youth with their life expe-riences on the topic, while Mr. Jose Jacob, Bangalore moderated the panel discussion. Later in the day, in the second panel discussion, Mr. Krishna Byre Gowda, J R Lobo conscientised the youth on ‘Youth problems and challenges’, While Bishop Henry D’Souza moderated the discus-sion. 30 September 2012, Day three witnessed a mam-moth number of about 5000 youth from all over

Dr. Moily also called upon the youth to take active interest in politics. Vincent Pala, minister of state for wa-ter resources and minority affairs, Govt of India said, “It’s your nation, your democracy, therefore, your par-ticipation matters the most”. MP Os-car Fernandes also spoke highlighting the power of youth and the need to make the best use of this vital re-source of youth power. During the occasion, outstanding young achievers were honored with Karnataka Catholic Yuva Rathna Award. The Awards were presented to Cajetan Karwar, Roshan Ferao Man-galore, Roshan Ouseph Mandya, Jose
Jacob Bangalore, Sabitha Monis Man-galore and Don Bosco, Tech Karnataka, NGO organization Bangalore. The occasion also saw the launching of CCBI youth commission website. Fr. Elias ofm, the Executive Secretary of CCBI Youth Commission introduced the website and Bishop Henry D’Souza launched the website. The three day convention concluded with a solemn thanksgiving Holy mass, presided over by the Rev Bernard Mo-ras, Archbishop of Bangalore and con-celebrated by the catholic bishops of Karnataka. The CCBI Youth Commission lauds the stupendous effort of Bishop Henry D’Souza and Fr. Maria Joseph, and for making the event a great success.
