Lost Their First Love! In chapters 2 and 3 of Revelation, Jesus gives to John the words that he is to write to seven churches. These seven churches are representative of all churches both at that time and today. Over the next several months we are going to take a look at these letters to the seven churches and we will see that these words still ring loud and clear even today. Churches and Christians of all times have struggled and need to hear these words. The first letter was addressed to the church in Ephe- sus. Now what is interesting about these letters is the fact that Jesus initially points out something that they are doing fairly well. In the case of the church in Ephesus, Jesus commends them for how they are enduring patiently and bearing up for His name sake and they are not growing weary. However, He goes on to say that He has this against them: they have abandoned their first love. Their first love was the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. That was at one time their top priority, but not anymore. I think that we can fully relate to this. We know the extent that Jesus went to save us from our sins. We say with our words that Jesus is the number one priority in our lives. We love Him more than anything in the world. However, what do our actions show? It is so easy to lose the excitement of our faith. It is so easy to let everyday life take over and before we know it, our enthusiasm and love for Jesus has slowly slipped away and we have lost our first love. We are reminded of Jesuswords when a teacher of the law asked Jesus in an attempt to test Him, Teacher, which is the great commandment of the law?Jesusre- sponse was, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. We know this, but how easy it is for us to forget. May God strengthen us daily to rely on Him and never forget our first love, Jesus. May we continue to go with Jesus and to share the message of our risen Savior with A Heart for Hamilton County and the World!

Lost Their First Love! In chapters 2 and 3 of Revelation, Jesus gives to

John the words that he is to write to seven churches. These seven churches are representative of all churches both at that time and today. Over the next several months we are going to take a look at these letters to the seven churches and we will see that these words still ring loud and clear even today. Churches and Christians of all times have struggled and need to hear these words.

The first letter was addressed to the church in Ephe-sus.

We are reminded of Jesus’ words when a teacher of the law asked Jesus in an attempt to test Him, “Teacher, which is the great commandment of the law?” Jesus’ re-sponse was, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment.” We know this, but how easy it is for us to forget. May God strengthen us daily to rely on Him and never forget our first love, Jesus.

May we continue to go with Jesus and to share the message of our risen Savior with A Heart for Hamilton County and the World!

St John Ruth Guild-

We are asking that members please donate soap (hotel size and regular bar soap) for the upcoming Texas district LWML District Convention that will be in Waco TX in the summer of 2018. Ruth Guild Meeting- We are also inviting all ladies and teens to join us for our meeting on the Sunday, March 25th following the morning wor-

ship service.

We will be helping with the Con-

firmation meal.

Finance Update:

At the last Voters’ Meeting, we received the final approval from the Texas District for the amendments that were made to the Constitu-tion and Bylaws for St. John. The major change is going from the four regularly scheduled Voters’ Meetings to one annual Voters’ Meeting in October to elect officers and board members and to adopt the budget for the upcoming year. In an effort to keep every-

one updated on the financial condition of St. John, the Board of Fi-nance and Treasurer decided that it would be good to provide a summary in the form of the report included here. This report re-flects the income and expense for the month of January. Your gen-erosity has been incredible and we pray that hearts will continue to overflow in this way so we can continue to be about the mission of the Church.
