award for Best annual reportArchbishop Benedict Mar Gregorious Award for the Best Annual Report 2018-19 was presented to Rev. Fr. Alphonse S, Director Quilon Social Service Society.

Kerala Social Service Forum the state level network of Diocesan Social Service Societies in Kerala was initiat-ed in 1981 and was registered with Registrar of Soci-eties, Ernakulam in 1987 [Reg. No. ER 106/87]. Late. Rev. Fr. Mathew Thoyalil VC was its founding Director and Late. Most. Most Rev. Dr. Benedict Mar Gregorios as its first Chairman. KSSF had its humble beginning at Pachalam, Cochin and the administrative office was moved to St Antony’s Complex, Nagampadam, Kotta-yam in 1989. AMOS Centre was built by Late. Rev. Fr. Joseph Madakacherry with the support of MANOS UNI-DAS, Spain and was blessed on 15th May 2001 and the present office building was built by Rev. Fr. Varghese Mattamana with the support of MISEREOR Germany and was blessed on June 11, 2002.

aGB Meeting of kssF

Mar Jose Pulickal, Chairman virtually presided over the AGB meeting of KSSF and inaugurated on 22nd September 2020 online. Thomas Mar Eusebius, Vice Chairman addressed the gathering online.

Four different input sessions were conducted:

1. Laudato Si Year - Dr. V. R. Haridas, In-charge, Climate Desk, Caritas India

2. Challenges & opportunities in the current development sector/ CSR - Mr. Rajeev KJ, Development Practitioner

3. Farmer Producer Companies & Gramina Vipani - Mr. James Vadakkan, Founder, Farmers First.

4. Collaboration with Vibhavani and Krishitrade- Mr. Ben Mathew, Development Consultant

Kerala Catholic Church wants to ensure that the Ecological Footprint is reduced to sustain life and health by increasing the Handprints through this strategic intervention in her so-cial ministry. Through these strategies KSSF is setting before the partners a guideline to de-crease the Food miles of their partner families for sustainability.

KSSF drafted a Strategy for Kerala Catholic Church to Combat COVID-19 with the participation of all the DSSS. The strategy was published by Mar Jose Pulickal on 30th June 2020.

The strategy sectors are:

Marketing Network facilitationsKSSF is looking out for possibilities to promote marketing network for farmers and fishermen community. KSSF had multi discussion sessions with Vibhavani and Krishitrade to promote marketing network for agro-products of marginal and small farmers. A short training was conducted to introduce online site of Krishi-trade and to familiarise its functioning.

A special meeting of KSSF partners in Kottayam & Idukki districts was conduct-ed to facilitate the enhancement of marketing avenues for Marginal Farmers as a pilot program.

kssF initiative on agriculture Bill 2020A consultation of study circle on Agriculture Bill 2020 was organized by KSSF on 21st September 2020. His Beatitude Cardinal Mar George Alenchery, President KCBC inaugurated the session. Dr. Jose Joseph & Mr. James Vadakkan were the resource persons. As an outcome of this consultation, JPD Commission, KCBC forward a memorandum on the Agriculture Bill 2020 to Honourable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi on 2nd October 2020.

As on 30th September 2020 the Samaritan Volunteers assisted the funeral of 227 COVID positive persons, which is an expres-sion of great Christian charity and solidarity.

samaritan coviD response team Kerala Social Service Forum organized an online consultation cum orienta-tion program for the formation and training of COVID Response Task Force on 21.7.2020. KCBC Health and Youth Commissions collaborated with KSSF in this program. Each diocese decided to identify volunteers and train them with the support of govt. health dept. The Task Force was named as Samari-tan COVID Response Task Force. The Samaritan Volunteers will be available for the funeral and other health supporting services for COVID positive per-sons. Samaritan Volunteers are now established in all 32 dioceses.

Laudato si Year inaugurated Laudato Si Year to mark the publication of Encyclical by Pope Francis “Laudato Si” was inaugurated in Kerala by Mar Joseph Perunthottam, Archbishop of Changanacherry on 5th June 2020 by planting a mango tree at Changanacherry Municipality prem-ises during the Environment day observation in collaboration with CHASS and Changanacherry Municipality.

annual General Body of Darshan The AGB meeting of Darshan was conducted online on September 28, 2020. Mrs.Ashadas, president Darshan presided over the meeting. Fr. Jacob Mavunkal, Director KSSF then inaugurated the Annual General Body meeting and delivered the keynote address. He introduced the Strategy plan of KSSF and announced an award of Rs.10,000/- for the best food based enterprises of Darshan members during the COVID lock down.
