THERE ARE THREE DESIGNATED CAMPGROUNDS: Ferry Point Park • Chaplin Bay • Higgs and Horseshoe Islands Camping Registration begins 8 May 2017 Camping Starts 15 May 2017 Camping Season Ends 30 September 2017 Camping permits are required before camping at the designated campgrounds. Permits can be collected from the Parks Office located Global House #43 Church Street Hamilton HM 12. Camping rates: •$14 per night (non-refundable) NOTICE CAMPING SEASON CUP MATCH CAMPING The Department of Parks has established a few guidelines for those who wish to camp outside the three designated campgrounds listed above. The major reforestation and environmental project at Coney Island is still ongoing, therefore the park is CLOSED to camping. It will be restricted to picnicking only. NO CAMPING is permitted at Blue Hole Park/ Nature Reserve or Cooper’s Island Nature Reserve. NO CAMPING is allowed on the DUNE immediately behind Jobson’s Cove in South Shore Park due to the rare and sensitive plants that need to be protected in this area. There is a sign erected advising park users of this policy. ABSOLUTLEY NO PAINT, SPRAY PAINT, MARKER OR ANY OTHER FORM OF GRAFFITI IS TO BE USED TO MARK CAMP SPOTS. NO tents or ropes to mark spots are permitted to be erected on Monday, 31st July 2017. Tents and ropes found erected at the parks and beaches on this date will be taken down by the Department of Parks. Campers may erect tents and tarps on Tuesday, 1st August 2017 to secure their preferred spot. However, no one will be permitted to camp on this date. Please do not erect tents in front of the park and beach access gates. Camping WILL be permitted from Wednesday, 2nd August until Sunday, 6th August 2017. HORSES IN THE NATIONAL PARKS From 1 May until 31 October horses are NOT PERMITTED to be on any beach in South Shore Park (inclusive of the following beaches: Horseshoe Bay, Peel Bay, Butt’s Beach, Wafer Rocks Beach, Chaplin Bay, Stonehole Bay, Jobson’s Cove and Warwick Long Bay) John Smith’s Bay, Elbow Beach and Shelly Bay. From 1 May until 31 October owners and handlers of horses may take or ride the horses on all other public beaches with the following restrictions: owners and handlers can ONLY take or ride the horses below the high water mark between the hours or 5:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. The cooperation of stable owners, as well as horse owners and handlers, in abiding by the 1988 Bermuda National Parks Regulations and 1986 Bermuda National Parks Act, is greatly appreciated. Dogs are NOT PERMITTED in the Main Show Ring in Botanical Gardens. Members of the general public are reminded that Botanical Gardens is closed to the public at sundown each day. For safety and health reasons dogs are NOT ALLOWED on national parks playgrounds. Dogs are NOT PERMITTED in the Cooper’s Island Nature Reserve. The cooperation of dog owners and handlers in abiding by the 1988 Bermuda National Park Regu-lations and Policies is greatly appreciated. BONFIRES Patrons must be mindful of the rules and regulations outlined for recreational open fires as mandated by the Bermuda National Parks Act 1986 and The Bermuda National Parks Regulations 1988. See www.bermudalaws.bm. All bonfires require a special permit which must be obtained from the Department of Parks’ office. Upon obtaining a special permit, patrons will receive all the necessary information on proper bonfire conduct within our national parks. SPECIAL PERMISSIONS Patrons are reminded that if they plan to have events and activities take place within Bermuda's National Parks they should first seek out a Special Permission Permit from the Department of Parks' Office. ENFORCEMENT Park Rangers may at any time during an event/activirty examine your site and will inspect the site the following day to ensure that procedures are being followed and that the area has been left in compliance with the Special Permission Permit terms and conditions. Park Rangers and all authorized Officers, under the protection of the Bermuda National Parks Act 1986 and The Bermuda National Parks Regulations 1988, without a warrant and upon asking: a. Examine and take copies of any permit or other document required. b. Examine anything being used in connection with an activity/event within a protected area. c. Be given the name and address of any person who they believe may be involved in the commission of an offence against the Act or any regulations made under it.
