Children in Need The students at Coppice Academy raised £358.51 for Children in Need 2017 They did this by selling biscuits, collecting Smarties tubes filled with change, having a disco and coming to school in something spotty or own clothes. The 11KC organised all of the fundraising activates as part of their Asdan qualification . We were very impressed by their organisational skills, ideas and determination. Thank you to all staff, stu- dents and parents for helping us raise such a lot of money which will benefit many local good causes. Pantomime Time! We took the whole of the school to see Robin Hood and his Babes in the Wood at The Mitchell Arts Centre in Hanley. This production was staged by Stoke Amateur Theatre Society and we were made very welcome by cast, crew and front of house staff. Again, Coppice students behaved wonderfully and were fully involved, booing, hiss- ing, cheering and even dancing! Heres what Dan in Y10 said: The whole school went to the panto last week at the Mitchell Arts Centre and its called Babes in the Wood. I shouted boo and this man dressed up as a woman and they had a water gun, they wetted me on my back and I was laughing. It was very silly. It had some funny jokes and some that weren't very funny. The funniest part was the knock knock jokes. The music was good. The lighting was real- ly good too– Hayden Y10 The Coppice Newsletter We made it! Its been a really long term with lots of events, activities, teaching, learning and OFSTED!!! We will be celebrating reaching Christmas with a range of activities this week including quizzes, a festive room decorating competition, themed Maths and English lessons, staff and student Christmas lunch and our an- nual Christmas Church Service. Christmas Fayre We held our annual fundraising Christmas Fayre in late November. Each class came

up with fundraising ideas and organised their own stalls. We were so pleased to

have over 60 visitors on the day and raised almost £400 for school fund. We also

had a special treat from our local PCSO who bought their police car to show the

children.

Heres what 8/9-2 said about it:

I bought a DVD called Monster High. My parents came to the fayre and met my

teacher Miss Meakin. We sold reindeer chocolate sleighs.—Annie

I went to the Christmas Fayre and I went to the police car and I sounded the horn .

I had a cookbook and a box of chilli and I took home a bag of sweets.– Emily

At the Christmas Fayre we sold Santa Sleighs. There were crossbows and some

things that you could win. I went to the police car and honked the horn. I pressed

different sounds and sirens and all the flashing lights. I sat in the front seats and

the back seats. It was a lot of fun.—Harrison

As an extra bonus Mrs Woodwood successfully charmed Newcastle Under Lyme

College into inviting us to their student production of Cinderella. We were blown

away by the professionalism, energy and creativity of the students involved. A bril-

liant production.

Cinderella -I like the dance’s they dance really well. I like everything about it.I

found it funny when the ugly sister thought they were cute but they were so ugly.

I did not like the ugly sisters in the story. We watched it at Newcastle college -
