Minimum Guaranteed Funding
Ensures that doctoral students receive a minimum of $19,000 in financial support for four years of doctoral-level study.
The MGF package may come from a variety of sources including:
internal awards external awards teaching assistantships research assistantships
Eligibility Requirements for Minimum Guaranteed Funding
Students must be registered full-time. Must maintain cumulative GPA of 10 (A-). During first year, PhD students must apply for
the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (if eligible). During second & third year, PhD students
must apply for a SSHRC or CIHR award. Must submit a satisfactory progress report by
July 1st each year.

Field Learning Option
May focus on advanced clinical practice, policy issues or international development among other possibilities.
An experience that will advance the student’s ability to conduct rigorous research that will have relevance for social work practice.
Students doing a field learning option are exempt from Doctoral Seminar and elective course.
