“DUTY OF THE CHURCH TO LET ITS LIGHT SHINE”
“I have somewhat against thee, because thou has left thy first love” Rev 2:4 (3.1)
DEAD IN TRESPASSES AND SINS
“Because they neglect the practice of those things which are pleasing in the sight of God.” (4.1)
“NO ONE IS TO BE AN IDLER” “….duty of the church to
shine....No one is to be an idler in the vineyard.” (5.2)
“LABORS TOGETHER WITH GOD” “…. They will make every
interest secondary to the interest of His work and cause. With such workers the heavenly intelligences will cooperate.” (5.3)
“DILIGENCE IN THE MASTERS WORK” “Are we endowed with the Holy
Spirit….no time now for the watchman to become sleepy….if the followers of Christ watch and pray, they may have light to comprehend and appreciate the movements of the enemy. “ (6.1)
“WINNING SOULS TO CHRIST OUR CHIEF AIM”“The work of the gospel is not to depend solely upon the minister; every soul should take an active part in advancing the cause of God.” (7.1)
“TRAINING THE CHILDREN”
“They should be taught to be diligent in the missionary work; and from their earliest years, principles of self-denial and sacrifice for the good of others should be inculcated, that they may be laborers together with God. “ (7.2)
“A TRANSFORMATION NEEDED” “Oh, that all may arouse and
manifest to the world that this is a living faith, that a vital issue is before the world, that Jesus will soon come! Let men see that we believe we are on the borders of the eternal world.” (9.1)
DUTY OF THE MINISTERS TO INSTRUCT
“Has there been a line of work devised and laid out before the people in such a way that each one saw the necessity of taking part in the work? “ (9.2)
“EVILS OF INACTION” “The ability God has given, if not
exercised, will degenerate….(11.1) The very simplest modes of work should be devised, and set in operation among the churches. If members will cooperate with such a plan, and perseveringly carry it out, they will reap a rich reward….” (11.2)
“SET THE MEMBERS TO WORK” “….lay out before these inactive
ones the line of work that they could do….It will be by doing your might what your hands find to do that you will develop talents and aptitude for the work, and it is by neglecting your daily opportunities that you become fruitless and withered.” (12.3)
“ANGELS WAITING TO CO-OPERATE”
“….The angels of God are waiting to cooperate with the human agent….” (13.1)
“MINISTERING TO OTHERS”
“We must teach the members of the church how they may effectually minister to others.” (14.1)
“CO-OPERATION WITH GOD”
“The living Christian is one who has not left his first love, and his candlestick is not removed out of its place.” (20.1)
“CHURCH MUST BE QUICKENED” “We are to be waiting, watching,
working: it is most inconsistent for the church to whom has been opened the treasuries of truth, to be dull, worldly, and indifferent. Casting away all unbelief, we should by faith put every capability and every power into exercise.” (22.1)
“CHURCH MUST BE QUICKENED”“The Lord God of heaven would have the entire church devising ways and means whereby high and low, rich and poor, may hear the message of truth” (22.2)
“WATCH AND GIVE THE TRUMPET A CERTAIN SOUND”
“Our numbers are increasing our facilities are enlarging, and all this calls for the union among the workers, for entire consecration and thorough devotion to the cause of God. There is no place in the work of God for half-hearted workers, for those who are neither cold nor hot.” (24.2)
“EVERY INDIVIDUAL MEMBER” “The church of Christ has been
organized on earth for missionary purposes, and it is of the highest importance that every individual member of the church should be a sincere laborer together with God, filled with the Spirit, having the mind of Christ.” (27.2)
“EVERY INDIVIDUAL MEMBER”
“Work while it is day; for the night cometh, in which no man can work” John 9:4 (29.1)
