2016 Homeowners’ Christmas Party

Nancy Stracener, Sue Hegland, Joan Smith, Barbara Swift, Sharon Richardson, Michalene Gnau & Claire Calongne

Our annual Homeowners’ Christmas party was held

December 4 at the clubhouse, beautifully decorated

by Yvonne Cain. The ever-generous Sophia Keller

donated four red poinsettias for the occasion. After

the party, Sophia shared the poinsettias with her

friends who couldn’t attend.

Food and drinks were happily prepared by Annie

Sangervasi, Rita Clouser, Mary Jane Rich, Ruth Price,

Michalene Gnau, Brenda Butler and Nancy

Stracener. Of course, our residents brought lots of

treats to share. Nancy Stracener took care of

registration, meeting lots of new people!

Friends of Julia Armstrong entertained with

Christmas carols. Additional entertainment was

arranged by David Stansberry. If you were unable to

attend, we missed you.

See you next year! --Billie Ann Parker, Chairperson

Website to Continue through 2017

At the December meeting, the Board approved

keeping the current website for the Cloister at St.

Henry though 2017. Residents will also have access

to the website belonging to the new property

management company, Community Management

Associates (CMA) - www.cmacommunities.com.

The current website serves as a marketing tool for

our units with lots of helpful information available

to the public and real estate agents. Secondly, the

site provides historical information for residents

through both board minutes and newsletters.

Winter Is Here! Be Prepared!

The Cloister strongly recommends that you disconnect all hoses and other attachments from your outdoor water faucets if you haven’t already done so! Drain your hoses and store in the garage.

Water frozen in hoses can cause holes and cracks making the hose useless in the spring, or if still attached, can cause the faucets and/or pipes to freeze and leak in your house when spring comes.

Check the “Winterize You Home” article in the Resident Document section of the Cloister website www.cloisteratsthenry.com for other tips to help you protect you home from the cold weather.

JANUARY 10th COVERED DISH: Turkey Tetrazzini

Barring snow on the ground, we will gather for the January covered dish on Tuesday, January 10, at 5:30 pm.

Turkey Tetrazzini, a delicious entrée not offered at the Cloister in the last few years, will be the main entrée.

Wikipedia explains that “Tetrazzini is an American dish made with diced poultry or seafood and mushrooms in a butter/cream and parmesan sauce flavored with wine or sherry…served hot over linguine, spaghetti or other pasta.”

We are also told the dish is named after Italian opera star Luisa Tetrazzini. The dish was created by the chef at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco where she lived for several years though other origination stories also exist. Turkey Tetrazzini was first mentioned in Good Housekeeping magazine in 1908.

We’ll be using a recipe provided by new committee member, Michaelene Gnau. It will be delicious!

So come join us as we gather at 5:30 pm to have appetizers, visit and meet our neighbors. Dinner is at 6 pm. Tea and coffee (both decaf) are provided, but feel free to bring your own libation.

Remember your $4/person to cover entrée and other expenses and an appetizer, salad, side dish, or dessert to serve six.

See you on January 10th!
