The church’s website had some AMAZING simplified ideas for teaching the Family Proclamation to kids and simple wording to use to explain the proclamation to kids (here). The wording in our “Family Proclamation for Kids” booklet as well as the activity ideas on the pages below come directly from that. Instructions: To make the booklet, cut on the solid lines. Glue strips together with the tabs as indicated. Fold back and forth on the black dotted lines like an accordion. Family Picture: Draw a family picture on the first page of the book. Jesus Christ: Read the last page in the booklet and remind them that the only reason we can actually be together forever is because of Jesus Christ. Note: There are 2 versions of the booklet. The first one is ready to be read just like a book with pictures and words. The second version is an interactive version where the text and words are separate. This is how we did it with our kids to help keep their attention better. We had the short paragraphs cut out and put into a pile upside-down. The kids took turns choosing one from the pile, listening to the words of the paragraph being read, figuring out which picture goes along with it, and gluing it onto the correct page of the booklet. This gave us a chance to discuss each concept separately in as much depth as needed while still keeping the kids’ interest. Activity Ideas: The last page below includes additional activity ideas that could be used to go along with each paragraph.

Interactive Version of Accordion Booklet: Cut out the booklet with pictures and use the tabs to glue the strips together.

Cut on solid lines. Glue strips together with the tabs as indicated. Fold back and forth on the black dotted lines like an

accordion.

Text for Interactive Version of Accordion Booklet: Have these cut out and separated. Let the kids choose one out at a

time. When they choose it, read the text and have them look at the pictures in the accordion book while you read to see

if they can figure out which page that one goes along with. Discuss each one in as much depth as needed. After you’ve

read and discussed it, help them glue it onto the correct page (text comes from lds.org).

Let them draw a family picture on the first page in the book.

Read the last page in the booklet and remind them that the only reason we can actually be together forever is because

of Jesus Christ.

6) Heavenly Father says men and

women should get married before

they have babies together. Life is a

wonderful gift. Having a body is an

important part of God’s plan for us.
