Earth Day April 22, 2014 Our planet is at a turning point. The massive global migration underway now from countryside to cities will demand huge investments in energy, water, materials, waste, food distribution, and transportation over the next 25 years. If the right investments are made now, this unique opportunity will be the catalyst for dramatic changes in the built environment and the fight

against carbon emissions and climate change.

Black History Month

Friends gathered to celebrate Black History Month on March 20th.

NOTE:I was utterly amazed and impressed with how much the children have learned this year! The teachers are fantastic and I am impressed with how well behaved and creative each and every child is.  This is a true testament to all of the hard work the staff puts in each day.  I am so pleased that Molly and Jack are part of the Rainbow family.  Thank you for letting me spend the morning with the class and for helping to make our children awesome. Awesome Children, parents and staff makes our Rainbow special. by one of the parents

Angels on earthThe angels in heavenDon’t get the blues; They don’t have to botherWith clothing and shoes. They use their wingsWhen they move around,And their feet don’t everTouch the ground. But here on earthIt’s a different story; We have many aroundAnd they don’t seek glory.

You don’t see their wingsWhen they move around; They use their feet,They walk on the ground. It’s so very easyTo tell them apart;Just look for that personWith the oversized heart.”

Margaret(born November 27, 1930) and her daughter, Lisa, greet us with a surprise visit.

What a wonderful day that was!I spent my first 8 years at my home on Roseland Avenue and had as neighbors the McClennans. The lot next to my home was not built upon until after we moved in 1939. The Parsonage was on the corner of Roseland Avenue and Eagle Rock Way and Pastor Phillips and Mildred and son Dick were our friends.

I attended Sunday school at the Roseland Methodist Church and remember Children's Day when at 6 or 7 I had to turn around from my front seat and say a Bible verse. Much of our family's social life centered around the church. There were Harvest Dinners and Tomato Festivals and Becker's Farm was always there delivering bushels of corn and pumpkins.

The Women's GroupI remember a club "Pollyannas" where women had a secret pal who they remembered with letters and cards all year long and then at Christmas they would divulge their Pollyanna and draw a new name for the next year.

My mother was President of the Roseland Women's Club. My father worked for Public Service. Mr. Floyd was Chief Floyd to me. Other names are George Prang, and Sheldon Leonard who was my brother Richard's friend as was Lee Shirk. Mrs. Kent was my kindergarten teacher and first grade teacher and

Principal. Myrtle Wheeler (post mistress) would babysit me.Municipal BuildingMy father was a Town Commissioner and very involved in the building of the Municipal Building.* I was there and remember the cornerstone being put in place with papers being put inside. My father told me his name was in there. They had a big celebration upstairs and I sat "Indian-style" on the floor in the front row and watched a man talk about Alaska. I think back and the name Mr. Byrd comes to mind. Perhaps it was the explorer Admiral Byrd.

My LifeAfter leaving Roseland, we moved to East Orange until settling in Montclair, NJ where in 1951, I married my high school sweetheart, Arthur Edelhoff. We have four children. Arthur and I now live in Oklahoma and will enjoy our 63rd anniversary in April 2014. My Christian faith has brought me far. I have always been involved in each church we have attended. I thank God daily for my life and for the blessing of my life verse: Hebrews 11:1.

Thank you, Pastor, for seeing me and my daughter, Lisa. I shall remember you and Roseland Methodist Church in my prayers.

*Note: During my recent visit in February 2014 to Roseland, I learned that my father was President of the Town Council. His name is on the plaque in the Municipal Building hallway.

His name is Frank J. Dunning.
