Shortly after Ken and I moved to TFUMC our beloved puppy, Brady, got out of the fence and began a scenic tour of the surrounding neighborhood. When Ken and I realized he was out of the fence we dropped everything we were doing and began a frantic search for him.

We asked our neighbors if they’d seen Brady not realizing they were part of a neighborhood internet group and would put the word out quickly that Brady was lost. A broader search was begun and 30 minutes later Brady was found and was home. What an evening of rejoicing for Ken and me. With the help of our neighbors, he who was lost was found!

This story reminds me of the wonder of Easter. The Gospel of Matthew shares a parable Jesus taught about a shepherd who left his flock to find one lost sheep. Jesus ends the parable saying, “So it is not the will of your Father in heaven that one of these little ones should be lost” (Matthew 18:14). I am reminded in celebration of Easter that Jesus came, was crucified, dead and buried. On the third day he rose again so that not one of his should be lost. Easter reminds us that we are his and he is ours. It reminds us that he will return and gather all his sheep to himself someday.

In the meantime, we, like my neighbors, tell of the wonder of the Easter story: He is risen! He is risen indeed! And He is coming again!!!

Contemporary Worship 8:45am

Welcome to our Easter Contemporary Worship! This morning we celebrate with joy an empty tomb, our risen Savior Jesus Christ, and the fulfilled promise through which we might have salvation. Today we receive Communion as a means of joining spiritually with Christ. The whole family is invited to participate in Worship! For those with little ones, our Nursery is available across the courtyard in the Children’s Ministries Building, which is also where kids (pre-K through 1st grade) may go when dismissed in a little while. Our Welcome Team is available to help answer any questions you may have this morning. We hope you’ll join us in sharing this customary Easter greeting:

Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia!
