Sharing God’s Blessings Annual Appeal 2019

Last month started the 2019 Sharing God’s Blessings Annual Appeal. This campaign provides the necessary resources to sustain Archdiocesan

programs and ministries. Our parish goal this year is $93,940. Please be as generous as possible. To date we have almost $14,000 in pledges. Thank you for any help you can provide. If you choose to donate online, please visit www.rcan.org/sharing. Pledge envelopes are found at the exits.

....My Envelope From time to time we may forget our weekly collection envelope and we place a check or cash in the

collection basket. In order to make sure that proper credit is given to your account, we now have a supply of "blank" collection envelopes in the narthex. Simply fill in the information on the envelope, insert your contribution, and place the envelope in the collection basket. This will help us with our accounting procedures. Many thanks for your continued generosity and stewardship.

This week, we will attend Ash Wednesday Mass at 9:15 am

Girl Scout Week is celebrated each March, starting with Girl Scout Sunday and includes the Girl Scouts’ Birthday, March 12th . Girl Scout Week is a time when girls reflect on what it means to be a Girl Scout and all of the amaz-ing things Girl Scouts can do to make the world

a better place. Girl Scout Sunday gives girls the oppor-tunity to attend their place of worship and be recognized as Girl Scouts. Girl Scout Sunday can also be a time when girls explore their faith or other faiths, earn the “My Promise, My Faith” award and strengthen the connection between their faith and Girl Scouts. Girl Scout Sunday is March 10th. We are proud of our MBS Girl Scouts!

Ash Wednesday The Lenten season is upon us! This is the Christian season of preparation before Easter. Ash Wednesday marks the first day of the start of the season of Lent, which begins 40 days before Easter. Lent is a time when many of us prepare for Easter by observing a period of fasting, repentance, moderation and spiritual discipline. The purpose is to set aside time for reflection on Jesus Christ; his suffering and his sacrifice, his life, death, burial and resurrection. Ashes on Ash Wednesday are a symbol of penance made sacramental by the blessing of the Church, and they help us develop a spirit of humility and sacrifice. For your convenience, I have listed the times for Masses or services held on Ash Wednesday, March 6, 2019.

Mass and Service Schedule for Ash Wednesday: March 6, 2019

“A good tree does not bear rotten fruit, nor does a rotten tree bear good fruit.” (LUKE 6:43)

Are you using your God-given gifts in the way God intended? Do you compare yourself to others and complain about what you don’t have instead of being thankful for what you do have? In Stewardship God gives each of us unique gifts and a unique plan. Listen to how God is calling you to use your gifts, to bear good fruit, for the glory of His name.

I would also like to thank the students. It is a joy to get to know each and every one of you!
