Feiern Leute in Deutschland Halb-Geburt-stage? Egal, so oder so erreichen wir mit dieser Ausgabe die große 6-Monats-Marke und es fühlt sich gut an. So gut tatsächlich, dass wir uns den Rest des Sommers frei nehmen. Aber keine Sorge, The Chop ist immer noch für dich da. Guck einfach mal in den Doppelkalender. Ooh, diese geheime Sache am 24. klingt klasse. Und schau auf all die Festivals. Hättest du überhaupt genug Zeit, eine August-Ausgabe zu lesen, wenn wir sie drucken würden? Hätten wir über-haupt genug Geld, eine August-Ausgabe zu drucken, wenn wir sie schreiben würden? Festival-Tickets und Späti-Biere läppern sich am Ende zusammen.

Wie auch immer, die Chop-Truppe arbeitet diesen Sommer weiterhin hart hinter den Kulissen; Pläne in die Realität umsetzen, Sachen machen, es denen da oben zeigen. Ich verrate nicht mehr, als dass die Worte „Chop Chips“ diese Stadt verändern werden, für immer. Wie bei Star Trek: The Next Gen-eration, als Captain Picard von einem Alien-Energiestrahl getroffen wird und ein kom-plettes Leben lang als Forscher auf einem sterbenden Planeten verbringt, mit einer Familie, die er liebt und einer Leidenschaft fürs Flöte Spielen, um dann aufzuwachen und festzustellen, dass er nur für ein paar Mi-nuten bewusstlos war. Wie diese Erfahrung Picard verändert hat, ist vergleichbar mit der Veränderung, die Chop Chips für DICH brin-gen werden.

Jetzt lies diese Ausgabe, plane deine Fes-tivitäten, entstaube dein Zelt und lebe den Sommertraum.

Und musikalisch geht es vermutlich um das richtige Gespür und Geschmack. Das ist schon toll, wenn so ein Abend ein gelungenes Ganzes ergibt, mit zu-friedenen Bands und Leuten die über Jahre immer wieder zu deinen Konz-erten kommen.

Du machst auch das Down by the River Festival, zusammen mit Fourtrack und Mohair Sam, wie läuft diese Zusammenarbeit und warum sollte man dieses Jahr auf jeden Fall kommen?Ich arbeite ja sonst allein, aber es ist immer toll auch solche Kollabora-tionen zu machen und in diesem Fall passt das ganz organisch zusam-men. Wir booken da mehr oder weniger wild drauf los, da gibt es

Do people celebrate half-birthdays in Germany? Well either way we’re hitting the big 6 month mark with this issue and it feels good. So good in fact that we’re tak-ing the rest of summer off. But don’t worry dawg. The Chop still got your back. Just look at that double calendar. Ooo that se-cret thing on the 24th sounds neat. And look at all those festivals. Would you even have enough time to read an August is-sue if we printed it? Would we even have enough money to print an August issue if we wrote it? Festival tickets and spätti beers ad up in the end.

Anyways, The Chop Squad is still work-ing hard behind the scenes this summer; putting plans into action, making moves, sticking it to the man. All I’m gonna say is that the words “Chop Chips” are gonna change this town, forever. Like in the Star Trek: The Next Generation when Captain Picard is struck by an alien energy beam and lives an entire lifetime as a scientist on a dying planet with a family he loved and a passion for playing the flute only to wake up and find that he was only uncon-scious for a few minutes. How that experi-ence changed Picard is similar to the kind of change Chop Chips are going to bring to YOU.

natürlich auch viele Diskus-sionen, aber am Ende entsteht dann eine ganz großartige Mis-chung. Eigentlich hassen wir Festivals, aber dadurch dass das ja mitten in der Stadt passi-ert und recht überschaubar bleibt, ist das beim Down by the River was ganz anderes. Und das about blank ist ein-fach ein sehr guter Ort. Neben so tollen Musiker*innen wie scout niblett, Masha Qrella und Chuckamuck gibt’s eine Refu-gee Soli-Küche von SOFRA.

Ran Huber hat als Veranstalter die Ber-liner Musikwelt seit Jahr(zehnt)en mit-geprägt. Die Liste der Bands bei seinen amSTARt-Konzerten ist bereits vierstel-lig. Außerdem macht er zusammen mit Fourtrack on Stage und Mohair Sam das Down by the River Festival, dieses Jahr bereits zum 8. Mal.

Was hat amSTARt, deine Veranstal-tungen und die Bands, die da spielen über all die Jahre ausgemacht?Das ist so ein besonderer sozialer Mo-ment, das bewegt sich ja meistens zwischen 50 und 200 Gästen, da geht‘s dann nicht nur darum reinzugehen, eine Band zu sehen und wieder abzuhauen. Da lernen sich auch die Bands und die Leute untereinander kennen und es bil-det sich ein Netzwerk aus Freunden.

“Have a band, see the world”it went slowly and got better and later on we actually got our first gig at Koma F, which was weird - but funny.

Christiane (Ch): Actually the whole story happened in Køpi. Charline and I met there, and we were already sharing thoughts about starting our own band, even before we knew Caro and Elisa.

Ca: Then we did some tours, and it took a while to do a vinyl which we re-corded in 2012. The next year Elisa left the band. That put us on the edge.

Ch: It was like breaking up, cause it’s like having a relationship, but with more than one person. But Elisa was fine with us keeping on playing as Levi-tations, so we were happy to keep the 3-piece, although we did get many ap-plicants who wanted to replace her! So yes we released the EP as our first re-cord which was actually our third one.

Ca: Oh yeah because the first one was super fast, like my singing was rap-punk, we were not happy with it in the end.

No more rap-punk, but some Newangrywavepostpunk...can you define your style a bit ?

Ch: Well before the postpunk we were doing prepunk (laughing a bit). And now our music is dark-er, it’s a different kind of energy. Finally people stopped calling us Riot grrrl as well.

Ca: Yes, and the angry comes probably from the texts we have. They are somehow revealing the powerlessness feeling one can have when it comes to the cur-rent political and social situation. It’s close to having a Nightmare, which is actually the name of our new song on our label’s Sound-cloud, Adagio 830.

Ch: We are grown-ups now, our first song ever was about steal-ing Pfeffis and getting arrested for that … (laughing again)

This year I had a great birthday. I even got to sit down with Caro & Christiane at the Hasenschänke in Hasenheide. As I explained me being a bit dizzy and why, they suggested we celebrate the news with a Berliner Weiße to go with some potatoe salad. This interview went off very smoothly, just as much as I enjoyed this Berliner Mahlzeit in the parc.

In a few words, who are you and what role do you play in the band ?

Hello, I’m Caro. I’m one part of Levita-tions, and I play the electronic guitar. It’s black and white, and I also sing sometimes, but we all do. I’m from Ber-lin, and I’m 31 years old.

You said you play the electronic guitar ?

Caroline (Ca): Yes, we do punk, it’s not accoustic.

(With a smile, I try it one last time)But is it electric or electronic ?

Ca: Electric guitar ! (They both burst out laughing) Yeah, I wanna do electronic music but they don’t let me … Yeah E-Guitarre in German. (They continue laughing). Well about my role in the band, sometimes I feel like a clown !

Hello, my name is Christiane, I’m the driver. My punker name is Krätze (i.e. scabies), Caro is also known as Kralle (claw), and Charlene is Jinges (no meaning behind that). Gérard was our fourth member. It was the name of our car that broke down in Poland lately. Because after touring a lot with Kenny Kenny Oh Oh from Leipzig, we some-how got nicknamed. So now we’re sometimes known through our punk-names. Anyway, I play the electric bass (more snickering). As everybody in the band, I learned how to play the bass with the band. It’s pretty funny to be sitting here today and talk about our story that began when we met in 2008 or 2009 …

About that, can you give us the high-lights of the band’s history ?

Ca: well our first rehearsal was in 2009, by then we were 5. We all got to meet together at the Koma F club in Køpi (a reknown autonomous housing & cul-tural project in Kreuzberg). That night, each of us got to choose the instrument we would like to play in the band. At first we were really not sure what we were supposed to do, so we spent 7 hours in the room we rented in Wedding figuring that out! We started with simple covers,

You talked about this new song, what can you tell us about your coming de-but album ?

Ca: It’s called “Dust”, it’s gathering both old and new songs, so altogether there are 9 songs don’t sound that similar. Usually songs written within the same period of time can be boring when put together on a record. They don’t feel that way now.

Ch: And we also realized that it takes so long because we are doing kind of everything together. Well sometimes we need to divide the tasks and get the help of others, for example to record the album we had the help of Tobi from the band DIÄT and Daniel XXX mastered it.

Ca: And the different takes and mixes, the art cover, and finding names to the tracks to finally get a tracklist, this all took a while ! Because usually we have numbers to designate the songs, but now that we have something like 20 songs, it’s a lot of numbers.

Do you have a release date already ?

Ca: We expect it to be out by the end of this summer, on Adagio 830 label. We’ll be playing in Amsterdam in September for sure. After that there will be a tour before the winter, and concerts in Berlin as well. You can follow us on Facebook to have the updates as they come.

How is it to be a new member of the Adagio 830 family ?

Ch: Well it’s kind of the opposite from when we had released our EP. During that time things were much more cha-otic and very slow, I’d say. But now we are the ones that are so slow! Robert from Adagio is offering so many differ-ent options …

Ca: It is a good kick in the ass, like our music would be available on Spotify … that’s pretty crazy. And he has connec-tions to very good band with whom we could tour so it’s all very exciting.

Do you have a last word to end this in-terview ?

Ca: Have a band, see the world. I hadn’t seen so many german cities before starting the band, we went toSpain, South East Europe, meeting with very lovely people and walking paths we would not have while on vacations.

Ch: Let’s say if you have doubts about starting a band, the best choice would be to stop doubting.

Ca: Exactly, having a record in your hand, you producing something, it’s somehow a self-empowerment.

July 5th – West Germany

Skeletons from New York visit to show us that their reputation as “one of the few contemporary bands who can legitimately be called original” (XLR8R) and we have no doubt they’ll stand up to this compliment. Com-prised of a fluctuating ensemble of musicians around composer and film-maker Matthew Mehlan and longtime collaborator Jason McMahon theirs is a truly mind-bending mix of pop, jazz, chamber music, and rock yet remain-ing entirely unpredictable and one could also label is as a new post-rock in the very purest sense in that it really is post-anything-you’ve-heard-before. Support is from Berlin’s mOck with their own interpretation of Chicago post-rock noodling with a dash of Do Make Say Think cos, well, why not.

July 16th – Marie Antoinette

Cranky Fest started in 2013 with an initial blast of three fests over four months and since then has become a welcome barometer of some of what Berlin’s local scenes are offering. This year it moves to Marie Antoinette with a cracking line-up the finest gui-tar bands around in DJ Dingo Susi, Celsius Panda, Strand Child and the fantastic Girlie. Special visitors this year are Fun Fare from Leipzig, a city which seems to be churning out fine indie bands at a rate of knots. With a vegan burger stand outside and probably some kiddie pools to cool your heels in, the festival atmosphere of Cranky Fest is sure to please all seeking good bands and some clas-sic dancing action afterwards with DJ Jonny Tiernan and others.

August 24th – Schokoladen

Canada’s Shotgun Jimmie brings his sunshiny-guitar-pop in the shape of new album Field of Trampolines to Schokoladen at the end of this summer to remind us of all things good in the world not that we’ll notice probably be-ing blissed out still by summer activities. Support is from Ad-venture Team, a gorgeously ar-ranged three-piece who hit you with classic indie-rock influences all at once, their own bio says it all really “the group’s reference map of musical influences circu-lates around the two main poles Olympia, WA and Glasgow, with frequent excursions to other cur-rent or former havens of the inter-national pop underground such as Boston, MA or Dunedin”.

CARE OF EDITIONS by Émilie Beffara

Gary Schultz is a music maker and founded the label Care of Editions in the beginning of 2013. Based in Ber-lin, he also organizes events under the same name.

He tried to develop a new genre of la-bel, using the Negative Money busi-ness model as a beginning. Have you already been payed to download mu-sic? Do you get the point? Gary gave me bit of his time to explain what it is all about, and below you have an overview of how he is experimenting inside the experimental music scene.

To start, can you explain how and why did you create Care of Edi-tions ?

It’s a curatorial handover. I am inter-ested in asking what is experimen-tal music, the value of digital media, what is the role of labels. All these questions, to me are shaped through the label and a discourse that the label participates in. Care of Edition releases, in addition to music, a new business model, and the new busi-ness model is called negative money. Under this model, I am focusing on the relationship between physical and

digital distribution. I wanted to put this in relation to one another and I think to kind of lend some of the qualities of physical media into the digital domain. Any time that you limit the digital media is an arbitrary thing, and I wanted to come up with a way that was maybe the least arbi-trary. To put that in motion, we pay people who download the music. And that money comes directly from vinyls sales. So we don’t give away download unless we can pay people, and we cannot pay people unless we sell vinyl. That kind of dialog is what the first model, negative money, is based on. I think the negative busi-ness model was mentioned to be a kind of introduction. Who we are and what we are about, I don’t think is necessarily clear. It’s more the ques-tions than a statement in my mind. I don’t like dealing necessarily with fi-nances, directly, but I think finances are at the root of the problem.

Think about what is happening to the music industry. I don’t think it affects experimental music as much it does popular music, but the bottom of the music fell out basically with Napster, it left a void and a lot of questions.

In a few words, what do you think about the experimental music scene in Berlin ? And where are your favorite spots ?

I think Berlin is blossoming. I came from LA, which for me was a great experimental scene. I was there at a really in-teresting time. Seems like one thing is coming to an end and a new one is blooming. With something more to do with Mi-chael Pisarro, a very important teacher for me. So for me LA was a lot more exciting than Berlin. But I will say that’s not the case anymore. I have the feeling that an all new crew is coming to live here and to per-form here. I find it an extremely exiting time. I love KW, it’s a beautiful building, but so many more exist. Recently, I enjoyed going to Elisabeth Kirsch and StudioAcht, in Wedding.

Kennen Sie noch diese Fernsehwer-bung für die Summer Of Love-Compi-lation? „Erinnern Sie sich noch an da-mals? Ja, das war ´ne Zeit! Wir waren jung, wir feierten und wir träumten alle einen gemeinsamen Traum.“ Anders als in den 1960er Jahren kann heute niemand mehr ernsthaft behaupten, durch Musik die Welt verändern zu wollen. Wir haben halt dazugelernt. Trotzdem bietet Berlin in diesen lan-gen Sommernächten immer wieder genug Material für in 50 Jahren mit viel Pathos umworbene Tonträger. Die Visionen sind dabei kleiner, aber nicht minder wichtig geworden. Fernab von naiven Masterplänen verschreibt sich das Torstraßenfestival einer solchen. Einmal im Jahr holt es Musikkultur zurück in die sterilen Straßen von Berlin-Mitte und so begeben wir uns heute in die Welt der Fruchtsäurepeel-ings (65 €, „befreit Ihre Haut von ihren Altlasten“) und wirklich schönen Men-schen, um unserem ganz persönlichen Summer of Love zu fröhnen.

Es ist Samstag und es herrscht allge-meine Katerstimmung. Knapp 30 Grad und eine Luftfeuchtigkeit von 500% tun ihr übriges dazu, aber wir schaffen das heute!

Vor Beginn der Pigeon Show stellt Billy fest, dass ihn die Bühne im Bassy an bil-lige Sitcoms erinnert. Tatsächlich führt der Wild-West-Dekomix aus Clublogo (mit Knarren, yeah!), Kutschenrädern und dem Gartenzaun am Bühnenrand dazu, dass ich nach jedem Song auf eingespielte Lacher vom Band warte. Die einzigen Lacher stammen jedoch vom Publikum und folgen auf Denes‘ gewohnt charmante Ansagen. Das Am-biente nimmt jedoch leider den Punk, der Pigeon sonst immer sehr gut steht und ersetzt ihn offensichtlich durch 100 % Rock! Na immerhin.

Im Schatten der Bäume vor dem ACUD kann ich meine Begleitung nach dem Konzert überzeugen, dass unsere aufgezehrten Energiereserven aus-schließlich mit polnischen Pierogen wieder aufzufüllen sind - auf zur Brun-nenstraße!

Bei der Recherche für diesen Bericht stelle ich fest, dass es dort mittlerweile anscheinend gleich zwei hippe polnis-che Pierogen-Läden gibt. Scheint das nächste große Ding zu werden. Torstraßenfestival 2016

Du kannst direkt aufhören zu lesen, wahrscheinlich benutzt du eh Spotify oder einen dieser anderen seelenlosen Streamingdienste. Ach nee, du hörst nur Platten, klar. Sorry, aber das hier in-teressiert dich nicht und du verstehst es auch nicht. Du hast dir noch nie darüber Gedanken gemacht, dass „Smoke On The Water“ falsch geschrieben ist. Rich-tig wäre „Smoke on the Water“, aber das ist nur der Anfang und von daher ist es eh zwecklos das jetzt zu erklären.Das hier ist mehr ein Appell an Men-schen, die noch Musik auf ihrem Com-puter gespeichert haben. Das ist für die, die trotzdem nicht wissen, wie man „Smoke On The Water“ schreibt oder vielleicht sogar noch eher an die, die sich nicht daran stören, wenn einer dieser gespeicherten Songs als „01 - Deep Purple - Smoke On The WATER“ in was auch immer für einem Player ab-gespielt wird.

Das hier ist auch für all die Menschen, die sich jetzt schon zitternd die Hände vor die Augen halten, weil sie Angst vorm Weiterlesen haben. Deren Brows-er-Startseitemusicbrainz.org ist und die sich jetzt fragen, ob bei dem erwähnten Song wenigstens der richtige Interpret angegeben und ob doch bitte bitte das passende Albumcover für diesen Song verfügbar ist. Euch sage ich: beruhigt euch, ihr seid nicht allein. Wenn ihr wollt können wir uns treffen und gemeinsam unsere Musikordner begutachten.

Für euch stelle ich auf meinem MP3-Player den CoverFlow an, damit ihr euch daran laben könnt, wie all die wunder-schönen Albumcover über den Display flowen. Mir könnt ihr immernoch Freun-dschaftsanfragen auf last.fm schicken und ich teile eure Freude, wenn ihr nach langen Foren-Diskussionen die richtige Schreibweise für das letzte Bowie-Al-bum gefunden habt ( nämlich und nicht „Blackstar“).

In meinem ganzen Besitz gibt es kaum etwas, dass so gepflegt und aufgeräu-mt ist, wie mein Musikordner auf dem Computer. Wenigen Dingen habe ich so viel Zeit und Aufmerksamkeit gewidmet und seltener habe ich konzentrierter und sorgfältiger gehandelt als im Umgang mit meiner digitalen Musiksammlung. Jedes Album ist mit den gleichen In-formationen versehen damit kein ein-ziger Song in den digitalen Labyrinthen meiner Festplatte verloren geht. Alles ist vollständig.

Es gibt für mich daher nur wenig Schlim-meres als Freund*innen, die zu einer Party oder einem anderen beschissenen Anlass eine Playlist auf einem USB-Stick mitbringen. Wenn am nächsten Tag dann 150 neue Songs auf der Festplatte sind, von denen die Hälfte schon da war (aber richtig getaggt!!!) und von denen 149 falsch benannt sind. Das ist schlim-mer als der schlimmste Kater, das tut mir im Herzen weh.

Es kommt auch immer wieder vor, dass ich an fremden Computern anfange, die Musik aufzuräumen. Damit verbringe ich ganze Partys. Wenn es sein muss bin ich noch da, wenn der letzte Partymensch nach Hause gegangen ist. Ich habe sogar schon öfter überlegt auf Ebay Kleinanzeigen einen Au-fräumservice für digitale Musik-bibliotheken anzubieten. Ich kann das nicht abstellen, ich mach das für mich und für euch. Nenn mich neurotisch, aber ich mein das ernst. Es ist ja auch gar nicht schwer, Ordnung zu halten. All u need is Interpret, Titel, Album, Genre und Erscheinungsjahr. Schon mit ein bisschen Aufwand ist immerhin für eine rudimentäre Ordnung gesorgt.

Also. Appell jetzt: Bitte! Küm-mert euch mehr um eure digi-talen Lieblingslieder. Sie haben Liebe verdient, sie wollen richtig geschrieben sein, nein, viel mehr - sie wollen vollständig sein. Oder schreibt mir einfach auf last.fm, ich mach das für euch. Ciao.

die Sorte Jesus, die in Berlin-Mitte Pierogi für 7,50 isst. Das Set macht Spaß und während Touchy Höhen rein und Bässe raus dreht, dauert es nicht lange, bis die Menge im Takt der Musik schwoft.

Während des darauffolgenden DJ Pay-pal Sets entscheiden wir ins Antje zu fahren. Da feiert heute irgendjemand Geburtstag. Toll! An der Tür werden wir gefragt, ob wir auf der Liste stehen oder Claudia kennen. Beides ist nicht der Fall. Jeder weiß natürlich, dass das Antje die härteste Tür Berlins hat

Als nächstes spielen White Wine. Um diese Band entstand zuletzt ein kleiner Hype. Erst hieß es, sie sollen als Sup-port von Sizarr diese in der Volksbühe an die Wand gespielt haben, dann tauchten überall vielversprechende Reviews ihrer Platte auf und zuletzt spielten sie ein extrem gutes Konzert auf dem Immergut Festival. Während der Schweiß bei allen Anwesenden in Strömen fließt, kriecht, schleicht und tanzt Sänger Joe Haege wie Rumpel-stilzchen mit Sakko durch das dicht gedrängte Publikum. Top!

Nach dem Konzert geht es direkt weit-er zu Touchy. Der hat eine neue Frisur. War früher sein gewagter Topfschnitt der Eyecatcher jeder Show, sieht er nun aus, wie die Reinkarnation eines attraktiven Jesus. Sie wissen schon,

und ich denke noch „jetzt bloß nichts falsches sagen“, doch da hat Dizzy D. schon die pas-sende Antwort bereit: „Ne, wir kennen hier keinen. Wir wollten nur noch ‘nen bisschen trinken.“ Smooth. Solch eine Schlagfer-tigkeit verschlägt den Frag-estellerinnen die Sprache: Ein anerkennendes Achselzucken später stehen wir bei Ryan an der Bar. Zum Abschluss gibt es Pommes! Danke Berlin!

Dass Bands nicht immer in einer lokalen, funktionierenden Szene in-tegriert sind, ist klar. Manche Bands scheitern am Versuch, in eine Szene vorzudringen, andere finden erst gar keine passende, wieder andere wol-len auf gar keinen Fall zu einer Szene gehören und lieber allein ihr Ding machen. Und bei manchen muss es einfach notgedrungen so kommen. So etwa bei Lessons, denn die Band selbst ist nirgendwo richtig Zuhause. Die beiden Brüder Samu und Ville Kuuka sind in Helsinki und Patrick Sudarski (den man von Speed Moun-tain, A Heart Is An Airport, Palestar oder als Singer/Songwriter unter dem Namen Montauk kennen kann) in Leipzig. Kennengelernt haben sie sich in Berlin und dann vor allem über das Internet kommuniziert. Pat-rick war zwischendurch auch noch ein halbes Jahr in Buenos Aires.

Inzwischen ist ihre Debut-EP „Tem-pest“ beim Berliner Label Sinnbus Records erschienen, doch eine Bandzusammenführung ist weiter-hin nicht geplant. Ein lokaler Szene-zusammenhang ist da nur schwer zu etablieren. Und dennoch: Patrick hat in Leipzig viele Konzerte veranstalt-et, organisiert Touren und legt auf,

Es gehe ihm dabei nicht um Esoterik oder Drogenstories, sondern - mit dem Ausspruch “To study the abnormal is the best way to understand the nor-mal” des US-Amerikanischen Psychologen und Philosophen William James auf den Lippen - um Rückschlüsse auf das, was Normalität sein könnte. Vielleicht ist das zu viel ver-langt von Poptexten, aber ohne eine solche Dringlichkeit funk-tioniere Musik für ihn schwerer.

Ein Blick über den S-Bahn-Ring hinaus - auf Bands und die sie umgebenden Zusammenhänge.

während die ehemaligen Filmstudent-en Samu und Ville nebenher in der Ambient/Postrock-Band The Gentle-man Losers spielen und Filmmusik schreiben. So ganz isoliert geht das nicht, nur ihre gemeinsame Band muss sich ihren Platz noch suchen. Auch im eigenen Schaffen, denn alle drei betreten mit Lessons neue Wege. Es solle weniger introvertiert zuge-hen, als bei ihren bisherigen Bands und Projekten, tanzbarer werden. Songwriting und Beats seien gleich-berechtigt in ihrem relativ schwer zu beschreibenden Sound, der irgendwo zwischen 80er Wave, 90er Shoegaze und sehr aktuellem Elektro Pop liegt. Vor allem das titelgebende „Tempest“ und „Laughter In The Dark“ dürften auf jeder Party bestehen.

Wie düster es aber auf der EP mitunter zugeht, kann man schon daran ables-en, dass sie in einem fensterlosen Kel-ler entstanden ist, mitten im finnischen Winter. Die Songs sind Popmusik im besten Sinne und dennoch kratzend, dreckig, unterkühlt und laut. Tex-tlich geht es um Nahtoderfahrungen, Abhängigkeit,Unterdrückung, wofür Patrick Berichte von sogenannten “Zurückgekehrten” verarbeitete.

SAGITTARIUS – Optimism might never be en vogue again, but com-plaints about the heat? You live in a city full of Spätis that sell ice cream, ‘scuse me?

CAPRICORN – Ah, what’s more refreshing than 5 ltr of beer on a summer’s eve? Just remember to hold on to the railing not the tracks when waiting for the U-Bahn.

AQUARIUS – The squeaking door will always squeak. The same goes for the bed, so don’t be resent-ful. At least your Mitbewohner is spreading some good vibes.

PISCES – Job-wise, you need to stand up right where you stand. If the going gets rough, there’s always an open coffee shop gig somewhere.
