The minimum qualifications for admission into a PhD at Monash is either:
• A Master’s degree including a significant research component and a thesis; it is normally expected that a grade of honours 2A (70%) has been obtained for the research thesis or project
OR
• A Bachelor’s degree requiring at least four years of full-time study in a relevant field, and which normally includes a research component in the fourth year, leading to an honours 2A (70%) in a relevant field
OR
A qualification which in the opinion of Monash graduate research committee deems equivalent.
Some practice-based programs have additional admission requirements.

This can be achieved by finding a supervisor who agrees to supervise your research.
Search for a Monash researcher at monash.edu/find-supervisor, or contact the research office of the Faculty relevant to your research field.
Some Faculties may require an Expression of Interest (EOI).

You will be required to submit the following documents:
• academic curriculum vitae
• translated academic transcripts
• proof of citizenship
• proof of meeting the University’s English language proficiency
• research proposal
• publications and translation if not in English
• scholarships and awards
Further documentation may be required depending on your individual circumstances or the course you are applying for.

Other means of meeting our English language proficiency requirements include ‘Language of Instruction (Tertiary Studies)’ and the ‘Monash English Bridging (MEB) Program’.

In collaboration with the China Scholarship Council (CSC), the scholarship covers • full tuition fees for the duration of your course • living allowance • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) • visa application fees • return international airfare between Australia and China
Monash provides a top-up stipend so that you are earning the same amount as Australian students on a university scholarship (2018 annual rate $AU27,535)
You should apply for a CSC scholarship which covers the full length of your candidature (eg. 48 months).

As an alternative to the CSC scholarship, you can apply for a Monash University scholarship.
Monash offers generous scholarships, which can provide you with a living allowance, as well as covering tuition fees and Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). You may also be eligible to apply for a relocation allowance.
Apply online at monash.edu/graduate-apply between 1 September - 31 March and 1 April - 31 August 2019.
V I S I T I N G F E L L O W P R O G R A M
Monash welcomes visiting researchers and foreign PhD students as visiting fellows.
To be accepted as a CSC visiting fellow, you need to contact an academic and request support for your application to be a visitor to Monash.
Note: the CSC will only accept official invitation letters issued by Monash Human Resources (HR) department, invitations issued by academic staff will not be accepted.
