Friday, January 9, 1953 Felix Grisette’s New Four-Page Periodical! North Carolina Facts is the name of a new four-page weekly publication that made its appearance this week. It is published in Raleigh by the North Carolina Research In- stitute of which Felix A. Gris- ette, former Chapel Hillian, is editorial director. The opening announcement says that the purpose of the new publication is to bring to- gether “in compact, usable and interesting form” thous- ands of facts about North Carolina. Each issue will be limited to one subject of current in- terest, which will be treated exhaustively. The first issue, for example, deals solely with the Governorship. It contains facts, historical and current, about Governors as men and the Governorship as an insti- tution. There are comparisons between North Carolina and many other states. The second issue will treat the legislature in the same exhaustive manner. As soon as the data can be compiled, one issue every month will be devoted to indices on busi- ness conditions in North Caro- lina. North Carolina Facts con- tains four pages 8 1/2 by 11 inches, carries no advertising, is punched for permanent binding, and sells for $5.00 per year by subscription only. At the end of the year a com- plete index number will be issued. Stott Instructs Masons P. C. Stars to Perform Tonight and Tomorrow Waters Family Has Gone to California Mr. and Mrs. Mark Waters and their five-year-old daugh- ter Marcia left Chapel Hill last Saturday to move to Bakers- field, California, where Mr. Waters is to be a news re- porter on the Bakersfield Cal- ifornian. The family moved here three years ago from Balti- more, Md. Mr. Waters com- pleted English studies at the University and also worked for the Durham Sun while they were here. Before their departure last week, Mrs. Waters was working at the Chapel Hill Western Union office. She had previously worked for the Chapel Hill Telephone Company and at the Carolina Inn. The Death of Mrs. Hinson Mrs. H. J. Hinson of Mon- roe, 78, the mother of John Hinson of Chapel Hill and T.E. Hinson of High Point (the for- mer Chapel Hill town mana- ger) died Monday after an ill- ness of several years. She is also survived by four other sons, Jim, David, and Frank, all of Monroe, and George of Tampa, Fla., and two daugh- ters, Mrs. George Pusser of Struthers, Ohio, and Mrs. Wil- liam McWilliams of Youngs- town, Ohio. Tyrone Power, Judith An- derson, Raymond Massey, and members of the Walter Schu- mann Choral Group are shown here as they will appear to- night and tomorrow night in Memorial hall in performances of Paul Gregory’s stage pro- duction of “John Brown’s Body,” Stephen Vincent Ben- et’s classic book-length poem of the Civil War. All seats have been sold, but standing room will be available at both performances, to begin at 8:30. The girls and their dates danced to mus- ic provided by a juke box. Decorations followed the New Year theme, with clocks of silver metallics and big figures of Father Time and the baby New Year placed around the room. The dance chairman was Meredith Stringfield, who was assisted by Susan Saunders, refresh- ments chairman, and Kay Mc- Gavran, chairman of the dec- orations committee. Chaperones were Mr. and Mrs C. M. Proctor, Mr. and Mrs. O. V. Cook, Mr. and Mrs. V. A. Greulach, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Gobbel, Dr. and Mrs. W. B. Abernethy, Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Shepard, and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Joyner. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Saunders assisted in serving at the breakfast held afterwards for the Y- Teens and their dates in the main lounge of the Graham Memorial. Before Christmas the Y- Teens went carolling, taking care to stop at the homes of people who were ill; after- wards, the group went to the home of Dr. and Mrs. E. G. McGavran for a party. The two clubs also assisted in the folding and mailing of the Christmas TB Seals. During the Holidays Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Pierson were in Mt. Olive with Mrs. Holmes. Dr and Mrs. Robert Lind- say and Scott visited Mrs. Lindsay’s mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Peedin, in Canton. Dr. and Mrs. Fields were in Miami. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Tate and their daughter were in Mor- ganton for a few days. Miss Allen Claywell of Rich- mond was in the village. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gra- ham were here Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew N. Gutierrez were in Maryland and Virginia. Stars to Perform Tonight and Tomorrow Waters Family HasGone to California

Mr. and Mrs. Mark Watersand their five-year-old daugh-ter Marcia left Chapel Hill lastSaturday to move to Bakers-field, California, where Mr.Waters is to be a news re-porter on the Bakersfield Cal-ifornian.

New Year’s Dance Held by Y-Teen Clubs

The Junior and Senior Y-Teen Clubs of Chapel Hillheld their annual New Year’sEve dance Wednesday, De-

cember 31, at the Rendezvousroom in the Graham Memorialfrom 9 until 12:30. The girls

and their dates danced to mus-ic provided by a juke box.
