WITNESS TO HOPE UPDATE

Welcome fellow parishioners to another report

about the Witness To Hope Campaign. As you

know I provide these reports, via the parish

bulletin, from time-to-time. My remarks cover

both the Sts. C & C and the St. James

campaigns.

I thought I’d fill you in on the fiduciary

responsibility built into WTH; which all Lansing

parishes enjoy for their respective accounts.

The entire Lansing Diocese WTH program is

governed by Witness to Hope Campaign

Policies and Guidelines and is managed by an

Accountability Oversight Committee (AOC).

The members of WTH/AOC, appointed by

Bishop Boyea, include clergy, lay leadership,

and parishioners. The WTH/AOC will publish an

annual Diocese-wide WTH report in our FAITH

Magazine each year, beginning this fall.

Here’s some random tidbits you might find

interesting regarding WTH:

• Lansing pledges (all parishes combined)

total nearly $80M

• There are 22,000+ WTH givers across all

Lansing parishes ..

• The average pledge is nearly $4K

• part of WTH strengthens our area’s Priests’

Pension Fund ... it helps the needy with

tuition assistance @ area catholic schools ...

it creates a perpetual endowment to

educate area seminarians

• And all parishes get $ for a local need/

needs they picked at the start.

Speaking of things local. The pledge collections

for St. James is about $114,600 and the pledge

collections so far @ C & C are about $44,000.

Parish groups and ministries

are invited to participate in

the Eucharistic Procession that

is part of the September 22nd

Diocesan Assembly by

constructing and carrying a

banner. Details regarding the

Eucharistic Procession and

guidelines for constructing the

banner can be found on the

M a d e f o r H a p p i n e s s

website. By way of reminder,

a l l p a r i s h i o n e r s a r e

encouraged to register soon

for the Assembly as space at the Breslin Center is limited.

THANK YOU!

Cristo Rey Community Center sends our

deepest gratitude to your parish for

supporting our Diaper Program this

summer. Thanks to your support, we

have been able to provide diapers to a record

number of babies in need! Since May, our

supply of diapers has nearly quadrupled and

we have been able to say “YES!” to many more

parents in need. You have brought relief to

many and helped ensure hundreds of babies

remain happy and healthy. You donors are

local heroes.

The urgent need for diapers remains; diapers

sizes 3, 4, 5, and 6 are completely out of stock.

We invite you to partner with us this fall to get

diapers and wipes to those who need it most.

Please consider hosting a diaper drive at your

workplace, Church, or next social event. You

may bring any contributions to Cristo Rey

Community Center at 1717 N. High Street,

Lansing, MI. Please contact Taylar Jackson at

[email protected] or

517-253-8249 with any questions. Thank you!

And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you,

as you did it to one of the least of these my

brothers, you did it to me. ~Matthew 25:40
