NOTICE BOARD MASS TIMES - Mass will be reverting to its original times prior to lockdown (please see back page for full details) and will still be offered online via Zoom. For the link to join Masses at Corpus Christi, please subscribe to our email list via the website. PLEASE PRAY FOR the sick of our parishes and our loved ones elsewhere as well as anyone else who is unwell. Please also pray for those who care for them. THE DIVINE MERCY CANDLE is being kept alight at Our Lady of Lourdes. This week we pray for the well-being of Adora. WORK - There will be work on the pre-school, church and flats in the next few weeks. Scaffolding is in place on the wall of the pre-school which is next to the Baptist church and on the school side of our church. More scaffolding will be going up by the flats, 16 Ellenborough Park South. Some essential maintenance work is taking place. PRAYER - ACT OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen. PARISH HALL - We have been advised by the Diocese that the Parish Hall will remain closed for the time being, although this could change overnight.
WELCOME TO OUR NEW CATHOLICS: on Sunday 16th August, the feast of the Assumption of Our Lady into Heaven at the 6p.m. Mass we welcomed Ruth Bell and Penny Devereux both from Our Lady of Lourdes parish and Di Munoz Castro from Corpus Christi through the Rite of Reception into the Catholic Church. This was an event which had been postponed from the Easter Vigil. It was a joyful occasion and quite meaningful for the Catholic churches of Weston as we were brought together in a quite unexpected way. Deacon Tom prepared Ruth at St. Joseph’s and shared the preparation of Di with Jean Davies who prepared Penny through the RCIA programme. It was lovely to see members of all three parishes coming together for this wonderful occasion. Welcome Ruth, Penny and Di. We pray you find joy and peace in your continued faith journey in the Catholic Church. We should have had photos but we forgot to remove our masks!!
JOURNEY IN FAITH (RCIA) our sessions came to an untimely end just before Easter when ‘lockdown’ happened so it was very joyful to celebrate with our Candidates from all our churches when they were received into the Church last Sunday. At present it is not clear how we shall move forward with the next series. However if you, or anyone you know, is interested in finding out more about our Catholic faith please contact Canon Tom or our parish Administrator Tracey and we will see what can be arranged.
ST GREGORY THE GREAT - We celebrate the Feast of St Gregory the Great on the 35d September. He was born in 540 and is called the Apostle of English. He entered the civil service but in 573 he sold his enormous properties, founding seven monasteries and giving generously to the poor. After entering St Andrew’s Abbey, Benedict I called him to become one of the seven deacons of Rome. He had hoped to lead some missionaries to bring the Gospel to the Anglo-Saxons, having been impressed by some Anglo-Saxon slaves on sale in the Forum, but he was elected pope which he accepted reluctantly. Later he sent Augustine to England. His role in Roman Liturgy was considerable and he is associated with Gregorian Chant.
FOOD BANK - Our help is still needed. Please if you could bring any non-perishable food items i.e tinned food items, biscuits etc and leave them at the back of the church in the porch (there is a box) or drop them off at the presbytery. Thank you.
LIVE STREAMING - As the Live streaming is on at Our Lady of Lourdes every Sunday 9:15 am, we encourage everyone to subscribe to our YouTube channel Catholic Weston and to click the notification bell to be notified every time we go live. Many thanks.
