24 Hours for the Lord – "Repent and believe in the Gospel.” We heard these words of Jesus from the Gospel of Mark the First Sunday of Lent. True conversion is not possible without repentance. Lent is a time to look deep into our hearts to examine our lives and experience the mercy of God through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. There is no sin that is outside of God's mercy. Again, this year in the Covington Deanery, we will have 24 Hours for the Lord and we are encouraged to make a good Confession this Lent. Priests will hear Confessions from 12:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., on Friday, March 12 at the Cathedral, and on Friday, March 19 at Divine Mercy Parish, Bellevue. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will also take place during these times. Now is the time to be reconciled to the Father. Now is the time to "repent, and believe in the Gospel."

LENT - OUR JOURNEY INTO VISION
Did you ever hear the expression, “You cannot see the forest because of the trees”? It reminds me of the one of reasons we have the Season of Lent. Our Lenten journey helps us to see beyond the trees, that is beyond our self, into a wider vista of possibilities in our life. On Wednesday, February 17, we entered into the Season of Lent. It is a period of six weeks leading up to the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus at Easter. During this time of Lent, we are asked to clarify our inner vision. The three practices of Lent being prayer, fasting and almsgiving, help us to clarify our inner vision. Prayer deepens our relationship with God and with one another. When we become closer to God in prayer, we see others as our brothers and sisters. Fasting helps us to give up or offer up a penance so we may grow in virtues. Almsgiving helps us to be less selfish and to share with others what the other person needs. Our vision of God, our self and others are enhanced by these three acts during Lent. We may not all have 20/20 vision at the end of Lent, however, we will have grown more spiritually enlightened. We ask your prayers for our Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) during this Lenten time as they prepare to be received into the Catholic Church.
Our catechumens are: Alexis Iseral, Sebastian Dulley, and Edward Kellis. Our candidates are: Olivia Brown and Daniel Jensen.
