Cinco de Mayo kicked off May. Mother’s DayPlanting was good OT and enjoyable. The plantsare sprouting already. The Sidewalk Sale withStella & Dot was a delight and relaxing. Nextmonth we will feature the Alex’s Art Exhibit,Birthday Party, Coffee & Tea w/ the ED and more.

Remember When: Porch-Sitting SeasonBefore air conditioning was a common feature in most

American homes, many folks took to front porches to findcool relief. There, they gathered to catch a breeze in the openair, sip a cool beverage and chat about their day. Porchesserved as social hubs, and neighbors and friends were ofteninvited to pull up a chair and “sit a spell.”Take advantage of your beautiful garden and enjoy amorning, afternoon or evening sitting or walking out in thegarden.

Take a Swipe at MosquitoesSwatting at mosquitoes may help keep the pesky insects

away—even if you miss. Scientists have found that somemosquitoes can learn to associate a human’s scent with thedanger of being swatted at, prompting them to avoid thatperson in the future.

Reminder: Boggle The Mind: Pick up a sheet, guess youranswers and come to Answer to Brainteaser every Wed.

We wish all our Castle fathers a Happy Father’s Day.For all that you have done to love & support yourfamilies. Enjoy a Father’s Day Luncheon Serenade anddon’t forget to stop by the concierge desk for yourFather’s Day Boutonniere. ALL RESIDENTS: ArtWorkshop has changed from Sundays to Fridays. TheRock Church will return to Castle and will be here every4th Saturday. Felice of Highfield Gardens Care Centerwill visit Castle and conduct Bingo, filled with prizes forthe winners. A Shining StarAlex K. loved playing in the snow. Being an only child

born in December, he was seen as a Christmas blessing. The family would frequently go to The Manhattan Centerwhen the center had Greek performances. He lovedlearning about different places. He obtained his Mastersof Education from City College, and began teaching atPark East High School, were he eventually served as Dean.He says, “I would like to be remembered as a good dad &teacher. A teacher who would break dance, and wore greatshoes.” Alex’s son Thomas, who he is proud of, lovesfootball which he gets from his dad. His son isthoughtfully involved in his dad’s care. Alex enjoys FrankSinatra, and he often saw him perform at Carnegie Hall.Alex became a part of our Castle family in 2014. He has apleasant smile, sense of humor, and is always willing toparticipate. When the music plays he is ready to dance.Thank you Alex for being a great dad & part of our family.
