From the Bridge:
I will tell you what has made America Great: volunteers! From the early days of our country it has been the women and men who gave so freely of their time and talents. Our club has been blessed since its charter with car-ing, generous and sharing members. I am reminded every week of this: the ones who decorate, cook, plan events, serve on committees, work in the heat making the club so attractive. Take the opportunity to thank those who keep our wonderful club vibrant and a loving space for socializing and relaxing.
Especially in the last six months our volunteers have given so very much; please know that you are all appreciated and loved and that this club could not survive without what you all contribute. Hug a volunteer today and keep making LBYC great!
Please come to the christening of our new beautiful, wonderful swimming pool; it is a beautiful addition to our facility and has been a challenge but it is finally ready!
REMEMBER…

Very Important Information: The club sends a lot of information via email—news, newsletters, statements, etc. However due to some changes in email filtering systems by some of the major email carriers, some of this information is being missed because it is be-ing flagged as “spam” or “junk mail” by these systems. A method to keep this from happening is to add the email address for the club to your contacts. We send an email every Thursday detailing what the chef will have for us on Thursday nights. If you don’t receive it, check your email spam folder for it. If it is in there, most email systems give you the option to mark it as from a trust-ed sender or “not spam.” We want you getting all the latest from the club and hope this helps.

June was a busy month with two sessions of sail camp & a fun Flip Flops & Flamingo party with live entertainment by Cary Laine to name a few. Thank you to Shelda Jones, Sandy Pace, Kathleen Kranz (and anyone else that I might have inadvertently failed to mention) for all your help in making this a successful event. The club looked great as did some of our “Flamingo” members! Don’t forget our Pool Grand Opening & our annual Independence Day celebration on Thursday, July 4th. The club will open at 4:00 and the ceremony & food will be at 6:00. The club will provide ham-burgers & hotdogs & we ask that anyone who wishes to bring a side and/or dessert. There will be a Meet & Greet for our new members on Friday, July 19th at 7:00pm. Please come down and welcome our new members. Desserts will be served. Please check the calendar & newsletter for what’s going on in July & all upcoming events. Also, look for flyers & reminders that might be on our website, sent to you via email or text, or on the tables at the club and, as always, see you at your club! Drink of the month - Firecracker! We are also going to continue the Bucket of Beer

Friday Night Bell-Ringer Joe Fleming
It was another for you, the members of the Long Beach Yacht Club. Winners one, winners all. It just keeps getting better. Sandy Pace, Joe Fleming, Marc Oehmichen, and Pam Rice went home with the loot. Way to go.
You too could be that lucky winner by coming to the Club on Friday evening to enjoy an adult beverage or an inexpensive meal. Then stay the rest of the evening to enjoy the company.

Something to ponder… We often joke about the Long Beach Yacht Club being a “drinking club with a sailing problem.” We usually get a chuckle or two and it’s funny I admit. BUT, there is a time and place for demonstrating the drinking problem part. At the club, in front of guests isn’t it. Please remember that any of your actions on our premises reflect upon ALL of the Officers, Board, and other members of our club. Anyone that is so intoxicated as to not keep themselves to some level of responsible control can be asked to leave the property. We are growing our membership and do not want to go backwards with a reputation of being a place where abusive drinkers hang out. Just consider this whenever you or any guest is enjoying our facilities. Members are responsi-ble for the actions of their guests as well. Thanks
