Holy Week Schedule April 2: Maundy Thursday Service. CLC is invited to join Our Savior’s LC, 800 North Cambridge Street, at 7 p.m. Pastor Carole will deliver the sermon. April 3: Good Friday service of Darkness with stripping of the altar, 7 p.m. April 5: Easter Breakfast, Fireside Room, 9 a.m. and Resurrection of Our Lord service at 10:30 a.m. News in Brief Pastor Carole will be on vacation April 6-12, and at First Call Theological Education, April 14-16 in Phoenix. Thanks to John and Linda Peterson for their generous gift to purchase the new railing leading into the Fireside Room. Because of Pastor’s vacation and meeting schedule, the April Council meeting is moved to Monday, April 20. Linda Peterson and Grace McDonald will be delegates to Synod Assembly in May. Easter Breakfast Sign ups this week This morning Tom Parmeter Dyer will be asking for sign-ups to bring food for the Easter Breakfast. Be sure you see him. Then plan to attend the breakfast at 9 a.m.before service on Easter Sunday. Invite your friends and neighbors to come, too. A Good Stewardship Reminder Our financial resources are among our God-given blessings. Scripture encourages tithing. Elements of tithing include proportional giving, that is, setting aside a percentage of your income as first fruits giving, regularly and consistently. The ministries financially supported by Christ Lutheran Church as approved in the 2015 budget, require regular commitments. Church members are encouraged to support these ministries through regular monthly or weekly contributions. For those members who may not be able to attend services every Sunday or who would appreciate the convenience, CLC participates in a program called SIMPLE GIVING. Under this program, you may elect to have a designated amount taken directly from your checking or saving account once or twice a month and transferred directly to CLC’s bank account. There is no charge to you for this service. Sign up is a simple one- time application and can be changed anytime. Ask the Leonard’s, Grace, or Jean Poencet how they like the convenience. Treasurer’s Report to Council The treasurer called the council’s attention to the financial report the first two months of 2015. The budget that was approved by the congregation in January calls for $5000 a month from envelope and loose offering. So far this year, the giving has been far below that amount. The anticipated amount would be $10,000, the actual figure is $8,337. The council expressed gratitude and thanks to those faithful givers who consistently contribute to the mission of CLC. However, if CLC is to continue to pay its bills and remain a viable entity in our community, this kind of deficit is unsustainable. Pray about this, and see where you fit in. Service Project off to a good start Twenty Blessing Bags for the homeless were assembled after church on March 8. The confirmands, Noah and Haley, will distribute them to the homeless at Mary’s kitchen in Orange.

Altar Guild Needs Volunteers We still need at least one more volunteer to join Grace, Jean Poencet, and Tina R.in the altar guild. Training will be provided. People are especially needed who can step in when regular members are absent.

Lenten Project Continues Again this year CLC along with the preschool will be collecting change for the Heifer Project. The collection jar will be available every week for donations. The more $’s collected; the bigger the animal(s) that can be purchased. Thanks to all for your generous gifts.

How to Use Amazon Smile One way to contribute to CLC is to use the charity link to Amazon.com. Here’s how:

1. Type “AmazonSmile” in your browser window. 2. On the next screen, existing Amazon customers fill

in your email address and password; new customers can Create an Account. Then click the yellow bar to sign in on the secure server.

3. The next page gives you the choice of selecting a spotlight charity, or you can pick your own. In the pick your own field type “Christ Lutheran Church, Orange, CA,” and click on search.

4. The next screen will show you two options. Click on the select button for Christ Lutheran Church, Orange, CA.

5. Start shopping. .05 percent of your purchase goes to CLC.

And Also ALT reports that recruiting is going well. It is 99% sure to go. A service using contemporary music is being considered.

Good Samaritan Sundays Alive and well The first Sunday of every month is designated as a day to remember those less fortunate than we. Envelopes are available in the narthex for monetary contributions; the basket in front of the altar is for food and other things needed for Mary’s Shelter and COA. Good Samaritan funds have been used to buy food and gifts for a needy family at Christmas and to purchase bags for the Blessing Bags.

Calendar of Events April 4: Seder Meal, Fireside Room, 6:00 p.m. April 5: Good Samaritan Sunday April 20: Council meeting April 22: Preschool fund raiser at Chipotle May 1: ALT Mary House Exodus begins July 13-18: LRCC Day Camp and Vacation Bible

School September 13: ELCA Day of Service

Recent update from the Navajo Lutheran Mission Pastor Edward Busch from the Navajo Mission and School in Rock Point, Arizona, writes that over 160,000 Labels for Education from Campbell’s’ products were donated to the mission in 2014. Many of you contributed some of those labels. The mission received school equipment and a van that transports students and parents to school. The needs continue. Look for the small “Labels for Education” on the products you use every day. It only takes a few seconds to tear them off the package or can. When you have several, bring them to church.

Preschool is also collecting the BOX TOPS from General Mills products. The

School receives 10 cents for each little piece of paper that says Box Tops on it. These can be very small, sometimes no bigger than a postage stamp. Look them and bring them to church.

Other Outreach Opportunities Good Samaritan Sunday is traditionally the day to bring contributions to the agencies CLC is supporting. However, the basket for contributions will always be at the altar every Sunday and items may be brought at any time. Below is the list of items most needed. Keep these lists handy for future reference.
