President’s Report
Well last month meeting was the Trophy night which was one of the better nights. To all of you that did not
come and would have got a trophy, to please collect them. They will be over at the track, so if you are not at
the next event they will be recycled. Thank you to Wayne Holness for the guest speaker Mark.
Mark’s talk made people discuss the information and take notice and what his job involved. He gave us a
great insight into what is involved in his role and position in relation to road trauma. It made my son and
myself discuss the examples and photos that were used in the talk. Great guest speaker, Thanks Mark.
Thanks Noel and his team for the parking the cars at the swap meet on both days. Thanks to the people who
did both days and everyone else that helped.
It makes me disappointed that I must make following announcements:
The Mt Leura Hillclimb that is on the calendar for the 28th and 29th March, the event will not go ahead as
planned this month. It is postponed due to the COVID-19. We need to protect the health and safety of all
involved, Volunteers, competitors, crews and the general public. Thank you for your understanding and
thanks for everyone’s support helping organise this event.
The Friday night meeting will also be cancelled, and we will hope to have a meeting in April, stay tuned.
The autocross that was to be on 19th April will also be rescheduling till further notice.
The Club and its committee hope to get back on track as soon as the health crisis risk has diminished.
THE PHONE BOOKS
The phone books have arrived to be delivered. We only have to put them in letterboxes, so if you would like
to take a walk around the streets and delivered these in to letterbox, please contact Noel. This is a good fund
raiser for the club and good for your health.
LAND
Land this month we have had around 3 or 4 properties that we have investigated but no go.
Finally, as the President of this great club, I have in all my time in the club and reading minutes from 1949 to
present, I have never had to postpone event and meeting for health reasons, COVID-19. I have for total fire
bans and that was a first also. Please stay safe and look after yourselves, family and friends. I will see you all
in time and we will get through this.
Thank again for being so understanding,
Barney.

It ain’t the end of the world, but it sure feels like it!
Once again, welcome to the Bulletin for another month, things are looking
pretty quiet in the world of motorsport and shall probably do so for a while.
One upside to all of this is that there has been no evidence of any viruses being
spread by working on the race car in the shed, which at least gives us all
something to do in the uncertain off-season ahead.
So, we’ll work through this, just remember that we’re doing this to protect the
vulnerable members of the community, so that once it comes back to racing, we
can all go racing together.
Chin up, and see you at the track sometime.
Andrew Bayley
Also, phone books still have to go out!
7 The Bulletin JAN 20
Autocross Round 2 On a sunny March 1st we ran the BLCC Autocross Rd2, DCD1 with a field of 39 starters, the weather was
kind to us and the track was, thanks to Sam Rozitis, in good shape. Sam had been out on the Saturday
finishing off some areas that had suffered rain damage the week before.
The track was kept as open as possible although we did have one or two soft spots and rocks that were coming
to the surface at the bottom of the bomber strip going into the left hander.
Once again Ben McKee took out top spot with Darren Watkins and Paul Gladman second and third
respectfully, it may be time for you boys with all that turbo power to turn up the boost and see if Ben can be
moved from that top spot. Fourth and fifth went to our first two wheel drive finishers in Sam Rozitis, taking
his little front wheel drive Mirage to its limits, and Ben Fawcett in the rear wheel drive BMW 325Ci. Ben
will definitely be one to watch when he gets that car sorted. Sixth and Seventh went our first juniors, Jordan
McDonald J2 and Sam Casser J3.
Good to see Sam back behind the wheel after having a bit of time away from the track. It was also good to see
we had eight juniors running on the day, at all levels, from some front runners in Jordan and Sam to beginners
who were all showing an improvement and a lot more confidence by the end of the day. In the ladies we had
Kasey Rowland in her Subaru and Michelle Sargent in the Excel that did suffer one or two problems on the
day but Michelle managed to fix things and continued in the event. We managed to get six runs in for the day,
although we were a little tight on time when it came to run six. The water trucks made an appearance on two
occasions to try and keep the dust down.
A big thank you to the people who helped make the day happen as with out their commitment these events
would not run, Michele Bayley, Barney Haddon, Ben McKee, Ian Brain, Rod Hall, Andrew Bayley, Gareth
Prosser, Bruce Bayley, Damian Quirk, Oakley Haddon, Ken Rowland and the great team of Bernie, Tracey
and Marty in the Dusty Diner. Also a thanks to Ambrose Haddon for helping me clean up the track at the end
of the day even though he was suffering from a big night the previous evening, that's commitment to your
club, thanks mate.

APRA
“Young BLCC member Josh Gay started his 2020 season the best possible way with a round win at the first round of the APRA / MRF state championship at the Australian Motor Racing series”
Josh racing his Nissan N14 Red pulsar went into qualifying at Winton Motor raceway with a new controlled MRF tyre, suspension changes, new electric water pump & power steering, new brakes & changes to the Winton circuit. With a lot to take in for the 15 minute session, Josh applied himself well, doing a new personal best of 1.42.0, over 1.1 seconds quicker than 2019 & qualified 3rd on the grid for race 1.
Josh was wrapped with the changes to the Pulsar, making it turn & rotate better, as well as brake better. This is thanks to the work of Ballarat business’s Pete Corcoran from Auto Projects, Justin Doherty from Doherty & Clark, Craig Signs & Mark Dawe from Morry Performance.
With 5 x 10 lap races over the two days and temperature in the 30s, was going to test the drivers & cars. The Apra pulsar race with the 2 litre sports sedan so a full grid fronted race 1.
Over the 5 races, Josh found the changes and updates, assisted him to fight of the lead of each race, leading in 4 of the 5 races with some very close racing in the controlled class of pulsars, with the highlight of winning race 2 by just 1 tenth of a second after 17 minutes of racing.
Josh had some great races & finished the weekend with a 1st & four 2nd places to have his first over all round win & lead the championship into round 2 at Phillip Island in May.
As this was a ARMS national round, there was a podium presentation & speeches for the podium place getters. “
