Tazria—Double Take Vayikra 13:3 "The kohen willl look at the affliction on the skin and if it

has changed to white and appears deeper than the skin of the flesh -

it is tzora'as and the kohen will look at him and declare him Tamei"

Why does the kohen need to look twice?

A young man once came to the chief Rabbi of Vilna, Rabbi

Chaim Ozer Grodzinsky, with a request for a letter of appro-

bation for his father, who was applying for a Rabbinical position in a

town known to R. Chaim Ozer. Rabbi Grodzinsky felt that the candi-

date was not worthy of the position, but instead of refusing, he just

said that he would rather not mix into the Rabbinical affairs of another

city, and was sure that the council of that city would make a fair and

wise decision. The young man began to hurl insults and abuse at him.

R. Chaim Ozer accepted them in silence. After a few minutes of hear-

ing the abusive language, Rabbi Grodzinsky excused himself and left

the room. Students who witnessed the barrage were shocked at the

young man's audacity. They were even more surprised that the Rav

did not silence the young man. Rabbi Grodzinsky later explained, "You

cannot view what took place out of context. You must look at the big-

ger picture. This young man was defending the honor of his father,

and in that vein I had to overlook his lapse." The kohen who is in-

structed to deal with the stricken individual should not only look at

the negah. He must look at the whole picture.

ELIXIR OF LIFE

This week we are one of several hundred shuls in North America that is

committed to inspire their kehillos on how to avoid the pernicious trap of

Lashon Hara.

PARKLAND PARENTS IN THE COMMUNITY SHUL:

Last Shabbos, five Jewish fathers with children in the Marjorie Stonewall

school scene of the horrific shooting, shared their harrowing experiences

in a packed Community Shul. The parents were deeply moved by the ex-

perience and felt heard, validated, and comforted by our community. Rab-

bi Seidenfeld moderated the discussion and they heard classes from Rabbi

Cohen, Saul Blinkoff, Moshe Firestone, and Rabbi Denbo. As a result of

their visit they have made a kabbalah to learn Pirkei Avos under the tute-

lage of Rabbi Feder, their guide for the trip and Noah Light's brother-in-

law and partner in the shul in Boca. They are planning to make a siyum in

August.

THANK YOU

-To Bijan Ghanouni for donating extra fruits & vegetables to the shul.

-To Saied and Dalia Javahary, the owner of Nathan's Kosherland, for

generously donating rolls to our shul. Please visit his store or website and
