WINE & CHEESE PAIRING Sweet White Wines;
Sweet wines are very complimentary to salty, strong cheeses like blues. They are
also wonderful with spicy cheeses and very mild cheeses like Butterkase or Brie.
Dry White Wines;
Dry whites are fantastic with so many cheeses, Sauvignon Blanc with Goat cheese
is a lovely combination, Chardonnay with Gruyere, Albarino with Campo de Mon-
talban. A personal favorite is Apremont from the Savoie region of France with
Adelegger cheese from Germany!
Sweet Red Wines;
Like sweet whites, sweet reds go beautifully with blue cheeses, also Parmigiano-
Reggiano, Pecorino Romano and salame. They also complement the Chocolate
Cheese and White Stilton with Cranberries.
Dry Red Wines;
Dry reds are challenging because the tannins can make fats taste flat. Great pair-
ings are Merlot with Challerhocker, Cabernet Sauvignon with Piave, Chianti and
other Tuscan reds with Asiago or 8 Year Old Cheddar. Pinot Noir and Cabernet
Franc are great with Morbier, Raclette and other stinky cheeses!
Sparkling Wines;
Sparkling wines beg for a decadent Triple Crème like St Angel or Delice de Bour-
gogne. It’s a mind altering experience for sure!
