Greek word “Biblia”(plural) “Biblion” (singular)
means scrolls Multiple sheets of papyrus rolled into a scroll One of the earliest forms and materials

Sacred Scripture – God himself guided the authors who wrote the books of the bible.
The writers intellects were enlightened directly by the action of the Holy Spirit
God is the principal author “Inerrant” means that it does not err. Infallible – because of the Divine help

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO SAY THE BIBLE IS DIVINELY INSPIRED?
Divine Inspiration – assisted the human author to use correct language and expression to describe what was being infallibly written
HOW THE BIBLE WAS WRITTEN
The bible was written by inspired human writers written in their own styles
The human writers of the bible wrote only what God wanted them to write
The whole bible properly interpreted by the church is true and completely without error
INSPIRATION
One of the greatest mysteries of our faith
The bible, the word of God inspired, takes on the weakness of human language, becoming a book that human can understand
The church was created by God

who where prepared by God to receive the Redeemer of the world

BIBLICAL CANON
The biblical canon is the official list of books, which the Church recognizes and divinely inspired and which she considers as a rule for her faith and moral
1. Canonical books - are recognized by the church as divinely
2. Protocanonical books – are biblical books whose inspiration was never doubted (literally means “belonging to the first canon
3. Deuterocanonical books – (literally means “ belonging to the second canon”) These are books which for sometime and with some group of people were doubtful as to their inspiration
4. Apochripal t- these books not recognized by the Church as canonical inspired, though they claim to be by their title or author
FORMATION OF THE BIBLE
Truths that God wanted to share with all men were first told to special or selected individuals ( patriarchs, prophets, great religious people) so that they could communicate or inform their own people about it in their own ways
