Diana has recently published a novel, A Remarkable Kindness which is based on the life experiences of four American women who joined the Chevra Kadisha on their kibbutz. All community members
are invited to attend the dinner.
The menu will include green salad, matzo ball soup, roast turkey, dressing, gravy, carrots, cranberry sauce, and apple turnover dessert. The cost is $15.50 for adults, $7.50 for children 4-12, and free of charge for those

November 13 - 14 - Lewis Groner A Rabbi’s Son Returns to Omaha
After nearly 50 years since last celebrating Shabbat at Beth Israel, Lew Groner, the son of Rabbi Benjamin and Rebbetzin Frances Groner, of blessed memory, returns to our shul as a scholar-in-residence November 13-14. He will share uplifting insights and entertaining anecdotes during a Shabbat entitled, ARabbi’s Son Returns Home. Rabbi Groner led Beth Israel in the 1950’s and 60’s when it had the largest membership of any synagogue in the city, and he was the first rabbi of the newly constructed shul on 52nd Street. Lew will reflect on growing up as the son of a distinguished Orthodox rabbi and what being from Omaha has meant to him and his family, consisting of seven children.

Mishna L’Neshama Club by Eliad Eliyahu, Community Shaliach
Beth Israel kids are the future of our community! Every Shabbat after the
Kiddush you can hear the beautiful sound of the Torah, which comes from the
kids of Beth Israel synagogue. From one month to another, the kids learn by
heart more and more Mishnayot and Midrashim thanks to the power of music.
This month Batsheva and Nehoray share with you their favorite songs from the
Mishna L'Neshama program.
Children are invited to send their favorite Mishna and a picture to the Beth
Israel bulletin by emailing [email protected]
Batsheva Shyken
It is very difficult for me to decide what is my favorite
Mishna because I love many of the Mishnayot we learn
every Shabbat. But one song that I love the most is the
song of all the names of the Torah Portions. I love it
because in that way I learn by heart all the names of the
Torah portions and because I also love the melodies of the
songs. We also start to read the Torah from Bereshit, and
this is another reason I chose the Torah Portions song as
my favorite part in the Mishna L'Neshama program.
Nehoray Mordechay Ben Shushan
My favorite Mishana is –"Kol yamai gadalti bein
hachachamim, v’lo matzati laguf tov ela shtikah." The
translation of this Mishnah is that throughout my life,
I was raised among the scholars, and I discovered that
there is nothing better for a person's body than
silence.
I love this song because of the melody of the song that
starts with "Ku Ku Ahaa…." With this song I make my
little new brother Itiel laugh when I scream to him
"Ku Ku" (which equates to the Peekaboo…).
