Dear parents and caregivers,
School Board
At yesterday’s school board meeting we covered;
1. 2020 staffing and staff costings
2. 2020 Leadership Roles and Responsibilities
3. Camp 2020
4. Fees Contributions and Charges 2020
5. Progress against the 2019 Operational Plans
6. Progress against the 3- year Business Plan
7. Financial Report.
In so far as our NAPLAN data, we looked at it in regards to our achievement against the school’s business and operational plans. I undertook earlier in the year not to compare our performance against the state, national and like school means as I believe that the change in testing regime, during the testing period was farcical and rendered the data useless in so far as comparability is concerned. The fact that we continue to compare favourably against other schools hasn’t changed my mind, as I still believe the overall data sets to be flawed for this purpose. The board ratified our proposed Fees Contributions and Charges 2020, and this schedule will be placed in this newsletter which is then displayed on the school website and flexibuzz app.
Leadership 2020
From Week 3 to Week 10 2020, Verne Jones will again be Acting Principal at Padbury Primary School. Padbury are fortunate to have Verne at the helm again and he’ll be missed at South Padbury during this time.
South Padbury’s Got Talent
Last week we ran this wonderful competition during lunch breaks. It really was an enjoyable and engaging event and I thank Mrs Pollard for all of the time, effort and expertise she put into making this happen. In my eyes everyone who got up there and had a go was a winner, but the official winner was Ashanté Craig. Well done Ashanté on a wonderful, winning performance.
Upcoming events between now and our next newsletter
Monday December 2; Bring Your Own Device information session for Year 3 2020
Tuesday December 3; Year 7 2020 orientation day and Year 6 2020 parent information session. P to 1 orientation
Wednesday December 4; Kindy 2020 information session
Friday December 6; TA4 and TA6 joint assembly
Monday December 9; Kindy A 2020 orientation
Wednesday December 11; Parent helpers morning tea.
As you can see it’s an incredibly busy time of the year, and I encourage you to frequently consult your term planner so you don’t miss anything.

2020 SCHOOL CHARGES AND CONTRIBUTIONS
The South Padbury Primary School Board has endorsed the schedule of Contributions and Charges for 2020
The schedule is broken into four sections and will allow you to calculate all costs that may be incurred throughout
the school year.
1. Voluntary Contributions
The total amount of contributions parents/caregivers are being asked to pay have been set at $40.00 per student
which is in line with the School Education Regulations 2000. The voluntary contribution is capped at a maximum
of $120.00 per family for a family of 3 or more children.
Money collected will be used to supplement school expenditure in the curriculum learning areas. While the
contributions are voluntary the quality of our teaching and learning program will be maximised when each family
makes its contribution to the cost of supplementing funding gained from other sources, including the State and
Commonwealth governments. It is therefore vital for the school to receive your family’s contribution. Your contri-
bution will be used to supplement school funding for the purchase of resources needed in the provision of the
learning program activities. The table below gives you the breakdown of where we will direct your voluntary con-
tribution to.
We also point out that all contributions are used for the direct benefit of the children. Our aim is to raise our com-munity’s contribution rate to at least 80% for the benefit of all our children.
2. Charges For Extra Cost Optional Components
A breakdown of estimated charges for your child’s participation in excursions, incursions, activities for 2020 have
been included in the table listed on the next page. Details on charges collected in previous years has helped
guide the 2020 estimate of charges. The amounts shown represent the maximum that will be charged
for scheduled activities in 2020.

3. Items For Personal Use
The list of items for personal use will vary from student to student and includes:
Pupil requirements for all students and used in lessons
e.g. stationery items, calculator, etc.
Pupil requirements recommended but not essential for all students
e.g. tissues, art shirt, etc.
Pupil requirements for selected students and not directly part of the educational program e.g. class photo-
graphs, Year 6 leavers’ shirts, etc.
The pre-orded list of Items for Personal Use for your child will be distributed on Wednesday 11 December as
previously notified. All materials can be purchased through Campion, however you are not obliged to use this
supplier. Your child will need to have the listed materials each school day so it will be necessary to replace some
items, such as pens or pencils, throughout the year. Campion personal items lists were distributed 15 October
2019. Copies are available from the front office or on the school website.
4. Other Voluntary Approved Requests
The South Padbury Primary School P & C Association voluntary approved request will be $30.00 per family.

Christmas Appeal - Spiers Centre Heathridge
Christmas is sneaking up on us again and while for many it is a time of joy and happiness, there are many people who are less fortunate and struggling to survive. We would love to have your support for our annual charity food appeal to support those less fortunate.
We will be donating to the Spiers Centre in Heathridge which supports local families in need. This will be a food only drive and donations can be in the form of any non-perishable food items, such as canned or packet food.
Please bring your donations to the wet area of Forrest Block. There will be a box labelled Christmas Appeal for the items to go into. The final collection day will be Wednesday 4
December.
Thank you for your generosity - The Year 6 Student
Council

COLOUR RUN The P&C held their first ever Colour Run last Friday 22 November. The event was a huge success and we have had extremely positive feedback from everyone involved. I think the smiles on everyone’s faces said it all. It was the P&C’s way of thanking everyone for their support this year and also a nice way to celebrate the nearing of the end of the school year for our kids. A special thank you to Dan and Cara Scudder who helped organise this event. This has been many months in the making and I know everyone appreciates all your time and effort you put in behind the scenes to make this happen. Thanks also to all of our volunteers, who helped with the set up, the running of the event and the clean up. These events would not be possible without your help and I know our volunteers were having just as much fun as the kids. Thanks again for your support. We would also like to thank Harley Burke from the Agency, for his generous donation towards our Colour Run costs. NEXT P&C GENERAL MEETING Our next P&C General Meeting will be Wednesday 11 December at 7pm, located in the Staff Room. New members always welcome. P&C ENQUIRES Please direct all P&C enquiries to [email protected] and we will endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible with a response. Leona Liddelow - P&C President.
