It’s August, and the fourth edition of the Vivid Magazine. It seems to be growing in popularity, over 30 000 readers in 3 months and we are not done yet. It’s been a good month here in Vivid land. Shoots, Workshops, Open day’s and lots and lots of chatter in the chat box. Thanks to everyone that spends time with us and for uploading the photos that make our days and inspire all of us.

We have added a new feature, to the magazine, this month. The Photographer with the most photo’s nominated, for the magazine, will get featured. This month, it’s Jacques (Omega Photography). I thank you for your time and effort. It adds to the magazine and I am sure everybody will enjoy the read and be inspired to be the next featured photographer.

Hope you all have a great month with lots of shoots and lots of learning and growing. Don’t forget to post your work. Looking forward to see you online.

V Interview with:

Omega Photography

Jacques Le Roux (Omega Photography) is based in Sandton, South Africa, and is a self schooled photographer.

His work reflects and delivers an accurate interpretation of mood, and emotive balance through his images.

V InterviewQ. What attracted you to photography?

A. I’ve always looked at photographs as a moment captured in time. To be able to, that is what attracted me to photography.

Q. Did you study or are you self-taught?

A. Self-taught. I bought my first Camera, a CANON 350D several years ago, and have evolved ever since. I started out by experimenting in different areas & styles of photography but found my niche in Fashion and Artistic photography.

Q. When did you decide to go pro?

A. I’m not a pro and prefer not to be called one (although I do sometimes lie on my back when shooting). It is still very much a passionate hobby for me. I found a real love for photography and have happily ended up doing photo shoots on week-ends and post-production work in the evenings.

Q. Favourite subject and why?

A. People (Fashion and Artistic). I love working with people and to be creative.

Q. Do you have a favourite picture and why?

A. I do. It’s a Black & White photo of a model sitting staring into the distance. The photo was captured in the moment and in my opinion, reflects her natural beauty as she is, not posed or aware of me taking the shot.

Q. Describe your style?

A. I don’t really have a fixed style as I try to create different moods for different types of shoots. I love conveying emotions and feeling in shots, especially in black & white.

Q. What, in your opinion, does it take to be a great photographer? A. The ability to observe and to capture that moment in time that will make a great shot.

Q. What motivates you as a photographer?A. The knowledge that I can always improve & the positive feedback I get from people who view my work.

Q. What equipment do you use?

A. CANON 30D with EF 50mm F2.8 II CANON 50D with EF 24–105mm L IS USMVarious lights & general studio equipment

Q. Do you have any advice for aspiring photographers?

A. I have been doing this for few years now and I still find new ways to do things differently and more creatively everyday by just playing around with different aspects, effects and lighting.

Q. Last words?

A. First and foremost I want to thank each and everyone I have

had the privilege to work with thus far. If it wasn’t for you,

I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to be creative in this,

my passion.
