Performance indicators reveal what the students know, understand, and are able to do.

Tammy McDuff, CScope Conference, August 2011 Silsbee ISD

Performance Indicators

•To effectively implement CScope, use the unit tests along with the performance indicators.•ELAR and Social Studies are hit hard on the STAAR; so performance indicators are an excellent tool.•Performance indicators are evidence of student attainment of and/or progression toward TEKS. PI include a tangible product or some sort of observable performance.

Performance IndicatorsKeep in Mind…•Some indicators are on-going.•PI’s are multi-step; teach them in pieces. •Effective teachers work backwards. You must know what is at the end before you begin.

Supporting•Introduced for following year or reinforced from previous year•No defined testing year•Narrowly defined content & concepts•60-70% of eligible TEKS•35-40% STAAR

Good news! There will be no more automatic failures because a child scored a 1on the composition, but passed editing.
