The couple got married on June 4, 2016 “I have always enjoyed June weddings, and I lovepeonies,” Connie says. The bride knew she wanted to get married at St. Sophia GreekOrthodox Cathedral in Los Angeles from the get-go. “From my grandparents, to my parents, tomy aunts, uncles, and Godparents—my entire family has gotten married in this church!” sheexplains. “On top of that, it was the church everyone was baptized in. I grew up spending everySunday at this church, so it is a huge part of who I am. I never knew what kind of reception Iwanted, but I always knew I would be getting married inside of this church.”

At the reception, tray-passed appetizers were served during the cocktail hour, includingwell-known Greek dishes like spanakopita, tiropita, and lamb lollipops with tzatziki, traditionalGreek yogurt sauce. Dinner started off with a Burrata, tomato, and basil salad, and then themain course was a duet of broiled herb-crusted filet mignon and broiled jumbo prawns. “Fordessert, we had our wedding cake along with an assortment of Greek pastries. The biggest hitamong the guests was the fresh deep-fried loukoumades (Greek doughnuts)!” says Connie. After dinner, dancing got going in a different part of the club so that all 300 guests could fit onthe floor. There were two bands that took turns playing throughout the night—one group calledImpulse from West Coast Music (they kept everyone on the dance floor all night), and thenthere was the Greek band, Synthesi. “My favorite part of the night was watching my newhusband as he danced the Greek dance called the zeibekiko,” says Connie. “He impressed allof the Greeks!” Later in the evening, Connie changed into a short cocktail dress by Reem Acra so she couldmove more easily on the dance floor. Hamburgers, french fries, and mini gyros were served.“We stayed up until 4:00 in the morning dancing with our closest friends,” remembers Connie.“And as always, my mom and dad were the last ones standing!”
