Lanka, 17kms away from the historic city of Galle.
Styled after Galle’s powerful ancient Dutch Fort,

MON 22 AUG NEGOMBO / HIKKADUWA / KOGGALA
After breakfast at Heritance Negombo meet with your local guide and proceed to Koggala via the
coastal route for a visit to the Tsunami Museum that commemorates those tragic times 11 years ago,
when on the 26th of December 2004 the tsunami hit. In Sri Lanka many lives were lost and the damage
was huge. Many people on the coast lost nearly everything they had. It is impossible to tell all the tsunami
stories, as there are too many. But by telling some of them people will get a general idea about what
happened. The museum is about the tsunami and the first years after, as so much changed every day.
Lunch will be at a local restaurant before continuing to Hikkaduwa for check in at your hotel.

After lunch at the hotel proceed to Galle for a visit to this World Heritage City for shopping and to
experience the vibrant shades of this wonderful city.
The tour encapsulates an experience where history, colonial culture, life, comedy, and thought provoking
stories are blended. You can find out how a tree brought down from the Amazon has taken its rightful
place on the Sri Lankan food menu. Hanuman, the monkey God and his connections to the fort. Your
guide will also provide the perfect recommendation for your taste buds or your style sense, just remember
to ask.
After the tour and free time for shopping have dinner at the Jetwing Lighthouse in Galle before returning

Depart early this morning for a safari in the Yala National Park.
Spreading into a vast 1259km Yala - with its glory spanning vast grasslands, shrubs, tanks and dunes -
rightfully is the heartland of wildlife in Sri Lanka. As your jeep rumbles through the giant gates of Yala, you
are not only stepping into the most visited national park in the country, but also the lands of a civilisation
which thrived during the reign of Sri Lankan kings. You name it, and Yala has it! Its usual inmates cover
herds of elephant, sloth bear, spotted dear, jackal, extensively populated birdlife as well as the highest

After breakfast at the hotel depart for a visit to a Tea Plantation where you will to witness firsthand how
this tempting brew is prepared.
Sri Lanka, tea and tourism are words which cannot be separated. Take a tour to the cold & misty hills for
an ultimate tea tour, covering lush green blankets of tea plantations. Or just step into a tea factory
processing the prestigious brand of Ceylon Tea, to observe a rich tradition kept alive today. As you
observe the hissing and swishing of machines, inhaling the heavenly scent arising from these facilities,
make sure to end your day in style over a perfectly blended cup of pure Ceylon Tea.
Upon completion of the tour proceed for a short walking tour of Nuwara Eliya and lunch at the Hill Club.
Augmented by an English countryside atmosphere, the city of light - once governed by English and
Scottish planters - is still studded with colonial bungalows, hedgerows and one of the finest 18-hole golf
courses in the world. A hike through the green grass and red brick walls should present breathtaking views
of a buzzing countryside hamlet. Drive through green valleys of the hill country pierced by endless

After breakfast the morning is at leisure.
After lunch at Jetwing St. Andrew’s proceed to the Nanu Oya Railway Station at around 1.50pm to board
your train to Peradeniya. Commence a wondrous train journey through misty steep hills and tea
plantations.
Climbing uphill up to 6,000ft above sea level is one of the greatest rail journeys in the world. The dramatic
landscape of the highlands stirs the senses as you wind past lush tea plantations, majestic peaks and
rushing waterfalls.
On your arrival at the Peradeniya Station you will transfer to Kandy.

WED 31 AUG KANDY
Today you will have a city tour of Kandy. Last ruled by King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe before it was brought
under the British rule in 1815, Kandy - the World Heritage Site and last royal capital of Sri Lankan kings -
crafts an array of culture, history and heritage in the minds of visitors across the globe. Experience an
ancient Kandyan legacy engraved around its crown jewel, the temple of the sacred tooth relic of Lord
Buddha. A stroll across this small lakeside town cradled among the misty hills will feature the Kandy City
Centre, bundled with latest and world class brands, bazaar, an arts & crafts centre, as well as a gem
museum & lapidary. Walk in colour as you glide through fresh fruits and vegetables in the Kandy market.
Upon completion, proceed for a visit to the Peradeniya botanical Gardens.
First developed as a pleasure garden under royalty and later harmonised by the British, the Royal
Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya are a flourishing national asset. Walk into this 147 acre bliss of an
experience, passing well-tended lawns, pavilions and an octagon conservatory to be greeted by the
vast expanse of a magnificently landscaped lush green turf. Towards the north of the entrance rests a
cafeteria that one might come across before stepping into some of the highlights.

BOOKINGS TERMS AND CONDITIONS
A group is defined as 20 or more passengers travelling together. If the number of passengers decreases, the per
passenger cost of your booking may increase and you may be subject to a change of conditions of travel.
Conference and ground Transportation Arrangements:
Other than the inclusions set out on the itinerary pages, all additional charges will be billed to your individual room
account. Charges of a personal nature such as room service, meals, beverages, internet, laundry, telephone and
any other items not mentioned in the itinerary are not included in the package and must be settled directly with
the hotel on check-out of all hotels.
Passport and Visa requirements – New Zealand /Australian passport Holders
Passports must have at least 6 months validity past the date of your return travel to New Zealand/Australia. If you
do not meet the minimum requirements you will need to apply for a new passport.
You will need a visa to enter Sri Lanka. You can get a short stay visa online at: Electronic Travel Authority (ETA)
(http://www.eta.gov.lk/slvisa/visainfo/center.jsp?locale=en_US). Tourist visas are normally issued for a maximum
period of 30 days. Although it’s still possible to get a tourist visa on arrival, it’s better to get one before you travel.
If you arrive in Sri Lanka without a visa, you could face delays at the airport. If you are not travelling on a New
Zealand passport, you may require a visa and a re-entry permit back into New Zealand/Australia. Please advise us
if you are travelling on another passport.
Costing and Arrangements
All costing is correct at time of publication (6th January 2016). They are all subject to change due to currency
fluctuations, tour operator and airline increases, fuel surcharges and changes to government taxes with or without
notice. These trips are based on minimum numbers and if the numbers are not reached, trips may be cancelled,
altered or increased.
