Activities:
The Flanders Investment & Trade agency promotes sustainable international business, in the interest
of both Flanders-based companies and overseas enterprises.
Whatever sector you are involved in, Flanders Investment & Trade will help you establish contact
with the Flemish companies you are looking for.
This includes not only products or services you may be sourcing, but also various types of business
relationships, from joint ventures to technology transfers.
At another level Flanders Investment & Trade enhances Flanders’ position as the gateway to Europe
for inward investors. The Agency identifies, informs, advises and supports overseas enterprises by
establishing production and research facilities, contact centres, headquarters, logistics operations
and the like in Flanders, the northern region of Belgium.
This broad focus on international entrepreneurship, involving outward trade as well as inward
investments, requires not only a thorough knowledge of Flemish economy, but also an extensive
network outside of Flanders.
We have just that for you. Do visit our website and discover our worldwide network. With over
90 offices we are bound to be conveniently located near you, wherever you are.

Company description:
Dark and pure, rich and honest... as long as it says BARÚ on the outside, you know you’re in for a
delicious treat!
BARÚ is a small manufacturer with a sense of fun and magic. Made in small batches, their dedication
to using premium ingredients and traditional Belgian expertise ensures that everything they do is full
of both flavour and creativity.
At BARÚ, innovation and indulgence are rolled into one. All natural, no flavouring or any other funny
business. Just a decadent yet honest indulgence for a moment of swirly inspiration!
Take their signature marshmallows as an example. Produced with real honey and ground vanilla pods
as a softer mallow and smothered in real quality Belgian chocolate, they were introduced at the
London Speciality Show in 2013. Now Barú presents the first range of premium marshmallow bars.
And let’s not forget their chocolate Hippo range which combines traditional home-made fillings in an
eye catching shape and packaging design. Their deep aromatic house blend cocoa powder
complemented with an array of tiny dark Belgian chocolate figurines, fluffy marshmallows or chai
spices, will bring a smile to your face.

Cucu, a twin praline for a sweet battle.
Cucu is not just another Belgian chocolate. Cucu is an enjoyable chocolate concept that will, once
shared, become a sweet battle.
Find a friend, a sweetheart maybe and split the treat in half. Beware though, enjoying Cucu is not
without risk. The one who gets the bean hopefully also has the guts to take the challenge. He’ll need
it! Cucu is also your edible ‘heads or tails’. Sweeter of course, but challenging nevertheless.
Cucu is a 23g (0.81 ounce) milk chocolate filled with praliné, made in Belgium only using organic and
fair trade ingredients.

Company description:
Carré chocolates is proud to announce a unique handmade product: ChocOBeer praline.
For the first time a master chocolatier developed a product that combines two established Belgian
traditions: rich beers and the highest quality of chocolate.
More than twenty years ago, master chocolatier Dirk Naert dusted off an authentic and traditional
recipe for liqueur filled chocolates. Using a technique that was considered to be too labour intensive
by many fellow craftsmen, Carré chocolates developed a diverse assortment of pralines with liquid
filling.
Thanks to its spirit of experimentation and innovation the company now boasts an internationally
renowned wide range of pralines ranging from classic liqueurs, sprightly cocktails to wine.
Experimentation with tradition led Carré Chocolates to what turned out to be an obvious choice for
Belgium, combining delicious beers and high-quality chocolate. The term ‘obvious’ however is rather
misleading. Covering a liquid such as beer with a thin layer of real Belgian chocolate requires
expertise, not only from the chocolatier but also from the brewer. The missing link was found at
Bockor Brewery which didn't hesitate to share its tradition in order to create of a new product that
embraces those two noble crafts. Later Brewery Palm and Brewery The Halve Maan followed suit.

Sheer heaven on a stick!
Choc-o-lait is the perfect creation for all those out there who love real hot chocolate. Choc-o-lait was
created in early 2004. As with most great ideas, the concept is simplicity itself: a wooden stick or
spoon with a block of real Belgian chocolate on the end. Stir for a minute in a mug of hot milk (80° C)
and there you have it - the most delicious hot chocolate you could ever wish for.
Now we’re launching a new line – Choc-up your tea or coffee!
With the new and revolutionary Choc-up mini sticks, lovers of coffee or tea add an exceptional taste
experience to their cup of hot drink. Stir the flavour stick during one minute in your tea or coffee and
make yourself a rich and creamy hot drink. Coffee with chocolate, it is a combination no gourmet
dares to doubt. The range consists of Hazelnut, Speculoos, Vanilla and Caramel. The tea version is
even more surprising and creates a very special chocolate experience. The flavours for tea are Honey,
Raspberry, Yuzu and also Vanilla.
Do come and taste our delicious products and tell us which one is your favourite!

Starbrook Chocolate Company (SCC), a very successful and delicious collaboration between an artist
and a businessman.
Jaak De Koninck, artist and painter, created in 1983 its own imaginary airline company ‘Starbrook
Airlines’, a fantasy world where air hostesses, pilots and DC3’s in warm aquarelles are coming to life.
In 1998, Patrick Gilis, owner of the Starbrook Chocolate Company (SCC), was completely seduced by
the very first tablet wrapper for The Lady, milk hazelnut, designed by Jaak De Koninck. This was the
start of a very successful cooperation between the artist and the businessman. SCC focusses highly
on the quality of the products and keeps a close eye on the continuous innovation of the packaging
and the assortment. Therefore SCC broadened the portfolio of the Starbrook Chocolate Company
with other stunning brands as ‘Classic Wheels’, ‘Fleet’ and ‘Beyond Time’. The Starbrook Chocolate
Company works with Belgian Callebaut chocolate as its most important raw material, refined with
own recipes and inclusions. Using original moulds as a DC6 airplane, a steamer or retro car, the
product’s appearance is totally different from those of the traditional chocolate products. The fillings
are rich and tasteful. As an internationally growing brand, the products of the Starbrook Company
are available in 82 countries.
Pure passion and persistence!
