7/29/2019 THE ART OF PRESENTING LECTURE TO STUDENTS
1/3
In the field of Education we are always engaged in presenting our lecturesand seminars to students and students also do to other students. The success of any
student or teacher comes from effective learning and attitude to impress the audience;
however our success is evaluated by the listeners or our audience. Presenting information
clearly and effectively is a key skill to get your message or opinion across, and today
presentation skills are required in almost every field. Even our Pharmaceutical sales people
presenting to us on I pads and tablets. Be familiar with what is a presentation, presentation
is a means of communication which can be adapted to various speaking situations, such as
talking to a group, addressing a meeting or briefing a team. To be effective, step-by-step
preparation and the method and means of presenting the information should be carefully
considered. I wish to state I have been trying for many years yet I never reached a
perfection, I wish I will try for better presentations; never forget Preparation is the most
important part of making a successful presentation. This is the crucial foundation and there
should be no short-cuts.Irrespective of whether the occasion is formal or informal, always
aim to give a clear, well-structured delivery. You should know exactly what you want to say
and the order in which you want to say it. Clarity of ideas and good organisation should
result in a lively, logical and compelling message.Regardless of whether your presentation is
going to be delivered formally, such as at work or informally, you should always aim to give
a clear, well-structured delivery. That is, you should know exactly what you want to say and
the order in which you want to say it. Having thought about and planned a good structure
will also help to alleviate any nervousness you may be feeling in the build-up to your talk.
Never forget be good in clarity,Clarity of ideas and good organisation should help result in a
lively, logical and compelling message, delivered in a confident and professional way. Our 45
minutes of lecture or presentation would contain 3 main elements
1 Tell the students in the introduction what your subject is and how you have organised
the presentation (by stating the key elements).5- 10 minutes
2 Then tell them the details of the key elements and/or messages (by expanding and
qualifying the key points in more detail and providing supporting evidence).25- 30 minutes
3 Then tell the students what you have just told them (by summarising the key points,
concluding with the main subject again).10 15 minutes
Prepare at least 8 10 important points, in a lecture of 45 minutes
Arrange the key points in logical order and expand them with supporting material -
discussion, argument, analysis and appeal. If you are hoping to students, or people who are

familiar with topic, then it is advisable to address potential controversies, within the
presentation so that you present a reasoned, well-balanced view.
The right visuals have great important on the students, be sensible and not emotional,Use
visual illustrations if anything requires expanding, clarifying or simplifying. Illustrations of
any type should be relevant and fully explained. Bear in mind that a talk will last longer if
visual aids are used. Avoid too many animation people lose the concentration on you, so
you will be ignored, Hope this world is full of PowerPoint presentations, PowerPoint or
other presentation software is often used to support a presentation, although care needs to
be taken to ensure that this technology aids the presentation and does not detract from the
main essence of your talk. Do not use visual aids or PowerPoint just for the sake of it or to
show off your technological prowess, there is nothing more distracting than crazy and
pointless PowerPoint animationsin a presentation.
Make a good beginning, begin to make it an acceptable lecture, the introduction should give
a preview of what you are going to say and should gain the attention of the listeners with a
statement of purpose, stick to the law of three, three is the magic number. The brain
finds it relatively easy to grasp three points at a time: people find three points, ideas or
numbers, easier to understand and remember than four or more. You could therefore
structure your presentation about the magic number ofthree.Divide your key message
into three elements and then expand each of these points into three sub-points. If you are
using a visual aid such as PowerPoint, limit the number of bullet points to three on each
slide and expand on each of these as you go along. However we crumple with too muchinformation than what we teach to our students. English Is a foreign language we are never
perfect, ensure that the language you use is appropriate for the audience. Are there any
terms they may not be familiar with? If so use more familiar terms or explain the meaning.
Presentations are spoken and so choose to use accessible and easily-understood words
(such as those you would use in a conversation) rather than technical or obscure words.
Even best presentations will have spelling mistakes Check, and double check, that any
presentation slides or illustrations, titles, captions, hand-outs or similar are free from
spelling mistakes. Do remember words not used with sense have no meaning and distorting,
and then Words do not have any meaning. They have value, use, according to the situation inwhich way they are put.Do not speak too fast and remember to pause occasionally to let
the audience assimilate the information. Use easily comprehensible language and try to
avoid clichs and jargon. If you are sincere and enthusiastic you will quickly develop a
rapport with the audience.Do your best to be friendly, upbeat and positive with other
people. Criticism is part of life -Dealing with criticism positively is an important life skill. At
some point in your life you will be criticised. Perhaps in a professional and sometimes it will
be difficult to accept but that all depends on your reaction. You can either use criticism in
a positive way to improve, or in a negative way that can lower your self-esteem and cause
stress, anger or even aggression. End you lecture with a positive note how this topic will
help you to perform better in their career. If you have not done well Today try for better

performance, tomorrow to do better things, Life is a constant improvement, never give up
improving the talents to survive with dignity and respect. Maintain a positive, cheerful
attitude to life: when things do not go UNPRODUCTIVE, stay optimistic and learn from your
mistakes. If you smile often and stay cheerful, people are more likely to respond positively
to you.
