• The Arctic is located at the top of the globe. It is also located in Greenland. There is the North Pole there.

Climate• In the Arctic summer is only two months. It is

very cold there and snowy. In the winter it is super cold.

Animals• The animals that live in the Arctic

are Polar bears, seals, snowy owls, arctic fox, mice, lemmings, voles, gray whale. Mice, lemmings and voles burrow themselves to stay warm. Gray whales migrate the farthest out of all of the water animals.

Plants• No trees live in the Arctic, but summer plants

live in the Arctic during the summer. The plants that live there during the summer are weeds and grass.

ExplorerRobert Peary reached the North Pole in 1909.

He lost 8 toes by frost bite. He also traveled by dogs and a ship.

Legends• The Stolen Sun is a legend that people tell each other. It

explains there are six months of sun and dark. It tells about a raven that creates people and animals. He gets angry with the people because they are killing the animals. So the raven takes the sun away.

Inventions

People invented the dog sled. Eskimos invented the igloo and the animal skin clothing. It is kind of weird.

Current problemsWe need to help polar bears. Global warming is

a big problem. It is a big problem, because the sun is getting warmer so the ice is melting.
