Notes on Daniel 10:5-6 and Daniel 10: 10-13 from Nelson Study Bible. The certain man in v.5 is either an appearance of the preincarnate Christ or an angel. The description that follows suggests that this individual is Christ. v.6 The description of the man here is very much like Ezekiel’s description of the glory of God. (Ez.1:4-28) and John’s description of the triumphant, risen Christ. (Rev. 1:9-20) v.10-13 The prince of the Kingdom of Persia cannot be a human ruler because the conflict referred to here is in the spiritual, heavenly realm. As the allusion to Michael makes this clear. The prince, therefore, must be understood as a satanic figure who was to supervise the affairs of Persia, inspiring its religious, social, and political structures to works of evil. The apostle Paul refers to principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this age, and “spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Eph. 6:12) The “man” here says he was detained for 21 days, which equals the time of Daniel’s mourning and fasting, (v.12,14) Michael seems to be one of the most powerful angels. He is mentioned three times in the Old Testament, all in Daniel and twice in the New Testament. (See Jude 9 and Rev. 12:7

Answer: The phrase “god of this word” (or “god of this age”) indicates that Satan is the major influence on the ideals, opinions, goals, hopes and views of the majority of people. Reading between the lines. Example would be: Genesis 4:17, “Cain had relations with his wife.” Where did “she” come from? If we rely only on the words written on the page of this text, we would conclude that there were only four people alive on earth and the other three were Cain’s parents (Adam & Eve) and his brother Abel. However, we read later in Genesis 5:4 that Cain’s parents “had other sons and daughters” over an 800-year period. So by reading between the lines, we can understand that when Cain married it was to one of his sisters or cousins. Scripture is selective about what it says, so or sometimes we have to fill in the gaps based on comparative texts or our knowledge of historical events. These are what fill the white spaces of our Bible.
