reMOVAl Of the fAiling iMPlAntA failing implant may be removed in a number of different ways. The most common method in the past was to use trephines to remove the implant but we lost a considerable amount of bone. Today, we consider using a device where you can reverse torque out the implant. In using this device, you will initially insert the removal

screw into the access hole of the implant using the hex driver with a torque of around 40-80 Ncm. Once the screw is secure, you will then use a reverse torque wrench to a force of 200-300 Ncm in order to remove the implant. This works very efficiently, and you are able to retain virtually all the bone around the implant.

Dear Fraters,

The month of February was a busy one for our chapter. Our Young

Professional division held a dinner meeting at Wolfgang’s Steakhouse in Beverly Hills featuring Bernie Stoltz, CEO of Fortune Management and Fred Joyal, Founder and CEO of 1800DENTIST. Fifty attendees heard these dynamic speakers talk about marketing techniques for the successful dental practice.

The speaker at our regular monthly meeting was Dr. Alon Frydman who gave a very informative presentation about Aggressive Periodontitis. While our regular monthly meetings attract mostly AO members, the Young Professional meetings attract non-members as well. This gives our organization the needed exposure to potential new members. As I leave my position of President and transition to role of Regent, I plan to place added emphasis on nurturing and expanding our Young Professional division.

Alpha Omega has been a part of who I am as a Jewish dentist ever since dental school and will continue to be so in the future. I will strive to do my best in representing Alpha Omega because I believe in its just cause. To those who think Alpha Omega is less relevant now than before, I point to the current wave of anti- semitism in our world and urge you to stay active and committed. Take a look at our program to provide dental care to Holocaust survivors, look at our volunteer work in helping the needy amongst us through programs such as the green bag project. There is and will always be relevancy to the existence of Alpha Omega.

In closing I want to thank all my board members who contributed to the growth and success of our chapter. Taly Kleinman, our Executive Secretary has been an indispensable member of our team. A special thank you to Lionell Greenberg, Rebecca Dayanim, Talia Shainhouse, Igal Elyassi, Rich Hirschinger, Michael Kleinman, Eddie Harouni and Jessica Boudaie for your guidance, help and cooperation.

Fraternally, Ron Saidara, DDS
