Politic causes• James believed in a new theory called the Divine

Right of Kings, which held that kings could do what they liked and were answerable only to God. He even said that ‘Kings are justly called gods’, which was news to the English

• There were no rights for many people• England didn’t have a Constitution, only Magna

Charta and some medieval rights• You see in the movie people struggling in name of

freedom
